Stepping into Blue Chillies you feel the warmth and welcome of Brunswick Street, but it just gets better and better - the smart but cosy decor, the genuine kindness of the owner as she greets repeat customers (and new ones, like me), and then the food! My friend and I only had time to sample the vegetable curry puffs (tasting of real, perfectly cooked vegetables, not a sweetcorn kernel in sight!), chicken-stuffed tofu and exquisite egg white-floss-battered rockling... Serves are generous and patrons who can't finish are given the rest of their purchase in a neat parel to enjoy later. The owner clearly loves both food and people, and spreads the joy. I can't wait to go back again.

Thrice cooked duck is the absolute bomb sitting in a divine wild ginger flower sauce, but don't shy away from the excellent salads that add balance and freshness to the richer meat dishes. We (3 adults - one male - two females) also had a lamb curry where the meat was just so tender and the deep fried rockling, a flaky and succulent white fish all on an butter egg floss. Superb Malaysian!Say hi to Ricky, he'll be on for a chat and is as delightful as his establishment's food. While it's important to have great people in the engine room of any restaurant, the front men and women don't get enough kudos - and Blue Chillies has excellence in their front of house staff.

My friends and I meet up about once a month, and BC fits our purpose very well. Usually quiet, restrained decor and of course friendly staff plus beautiful food helps keep this restaurant at the top of our picks for meeting up.The kitchen service is very quick, and serve up delicious dishes, based on a menu that appears to be in regular review and updates so that, aside from some favourites, there seems to be fresh choices quite often.What are some of our favourites? The beautifully fried rockling (I suggest asking for the main serving size if you're a fan too), duck rendang and spinach belachan are consistently tasty and satisfying. Well done! What a fabulous night, overseen by the wonderful Bonnie! A great fusion of Asian favourites, an extensive wine list, and ambience suitable for all - couples, groups of friends and high-end business dinners. Will definitely be back again soon!

Assam Prawns, fresh king prawns in tangy tamarind sauce and the Thrice Cooked Duck redolent of ginger flowers and lemongrass. Incredible flavours! Enjoy with a G&T. For lunch, try the Laksa - best authentic laksa outside of Kuala Lumpur.

A cold winter Sunday made delightful by really excellent food and attentive service. We had a banquet option and it was no trouble to make one serving vegetarian. Would love to return soon. Thanks especially to Bonnie.

We got takeaway laksa from here tonight and it was great laksa, We have tried many laksas around Melbourne and although this may not be the absolute best it was full of flavour and we will definitely be back. Réservez une table maintenant
