Boulangerie-Patisserie Charlet-Ancay

I would never have thought of reviewing what is basically a bread shop, but this establishment's produce is superb! It is situated on the road from Villars to Bex at a place which is called variously Barbalousaz, La Barboleuse and variations on these. I always refer to it as Be-bop-a-loo-la, which gives away my age. Everything we have bought from this shop has been excellent, if pricey. The price of bread in Switzerland always comes as a shock. One sweet speciality looks and tastes like a cross between brandy-snaps and peanut brittle and is called tuiles which translates as tiles. Delicious but beware of losing your fillings! Their sandwiches are varied, their own bread filled with tuna, bee...

Charles is a family run restaurant that is clearly very successful. There is a bakery/ patisserie section where there is a fabulous selection...but not cheap! If you wish to eat in situ, you have to buy the food from the bakery first then take it to the eating area in the restaurant/bar. Otherwise there is a snack/ lunch menu in the restaurant! However not cheap and slightly underwhelming! Drinks ie beer and wine are well priced.

Best bakery and patisserie around ! People come from neighboring villages for high quality pastry And bread ! There is also a small convenience area with milk eggs butter etc ! Nice tea room Charlet specialty is “ Flutes au Beurre “ great alternative to chips or peanuts at aperitif! During confinement they deliver !!!!

I love that place! Great for breakfast and for lunch too! Their salads and sandwiches are amazing! Coffee is excellent but their chocolate is simply amazing! If you come around, don’t hesitate to give it a go! You will love the mountain style! Réservez une table maintenant

This is regular stop after our walk through the woods from Villars...i have not had a better apricot tart anywhere!...small terrace which works ok and friendly service...coffee is ok but certainly not the best.

We go through the woods of Villars and usually decide for one of their excellent tarts and good coffee...a really switched place and we will be back... thanks.

If you are lacto-veg, vegan or allergic to eggs, you are quite limited to bread. That said it's very good bread. And the chocolates are amazing!
