we decided to try this restaurant that was close to our hotel. at the arrival we waited to be sitting, but you said it would be a 30-40 minutes waiting to get a table. I suppose the restaurant was probably short occupied and tried to do the best they could. after approx. 30 minutes we were directed to a table and menus in English. the employees spoke in limited English and informed us that they were from everything on the pizza part of the menu, but had much more. my young were a little sad, that was what they wanted, but agreed to try something else. we decided to try the lasagne that came out with an salate. the first thing I discovered was that the duck magret, on which I am happy, was not available. there is no excuse for these days. if it is on the menu, it should be available. the waitress had no idea why she wasn't and...as she didn't speak much English, it proved impossible to find out. but also no excuse. there were no side plates for broth. the steak knife was a deadly weapon, but not cut by the steak. I asked for seldom, it was certainly not. I could go on. not where I would recommend it.
Ate here with my fussy kids and very limited French! Luckily the staff were accommodating of the kids and spoke perfect English. The pizza was excellent, as was the floating island dessert. The brasserie is set within a budget style hotel so our expectations were...limited but we were really impressed, with the food, the price and the service. Is just 10 mins walk from Caen memorial, so the brasserie as well as the hotel would make a good stop off when visiting there.
this restaurant gave us a nice meal when we were there in the fairytale. we had only main dishes, but they were quite substantially, the calzone for example was the half of the size of the teller and quite delicious. I had the salmon court that was cost to perfection. I would definitely recommend eating in this restaurant.
