The atmosphere was excellent and so was the beer. The food was just ok thought. My husband ordered pork schnitzel and it was kinda oily. I got a pretzel and creamed cheese with onion. It was good, but for the amount of cheese you get,...there wasn't enough pretzel. I feel like I wasted a lot. The guy next to me got the pork knuckle with potatoes and was very happy with his meal though he barely dented it because the portion was huge. Dominik, our waiter was very nice and accommodating.

Stopped here for lunch and a beer. The beer here is brewed on site I believe. The light beer has a nice lemon refreshing taste. This beer is very light at percent alcohol. The pork knuckle is big enough to share for at possibility people. I love the crispy skin on the pork knuckle. It was delicious. We also ordered some sort of cream cheese with raw onions and pretzels, it was not what we thought we ordered. Overall we liked this spot and I would recommend this spot!

Had dinner with family at the Alte Kranen on a cold night. Excellent service with lots of ambience. Typical Franconian food which was delicious. My schnitzel was huge and potato salad perfect. The local wine servrd in quarter liter glass was good and cheap. Overall...a priceworthy and will visit again.

This is a great place direct on the river to grab a beer. The Bavarian good is ok but the healthier choices are not very good. Stay away from the uninspiring salads. Drinks and atmosphere are good, but you are better off eating somewhere else...beforehand.

This is a nice place for a beer or two. Unable to comment on the food as we didn't try it. Great location on the river bank with a good view of the Marienberg Fortress on the hillside opposite.
