This used to be a good place to have a Sunday lunch,that is no longer true. Firstly the choice given was very limited just beef, Chicken or pork. There were no starters on offer. We had the beef which came plated,two thin slices and a few mixed vegetables no luxuries such as a 'Yorkshire pudding ' no dessert was offered. The cost? 11€ not good value I 'm afraid for a small meal. Other local establishments such as Father Ted and Winchester offer good quality food at a fair price. We could have had three courses for 11.95€ at either of these Establishments. The Bull and Bear is situated in a nice position and the staff are friendly but at the moment it is not to be recommended.
We visited B&B on a sunny but very chilly Sunday lunchtime and were welcomed by a very friendly waitress and a roaring fire, both of which were greatly appreciated! Sadly only 3 tables were occupied but there was still a lovely atmosphere and the service was attentive although you didn’t feel that you were being rushed. Starters of baked Brie and Chicken Liver Parfait were delicious, we both had roast beef served with a nice selection of vegetables and finished off the cheesecake all equally tasty. We haven’t been for a couple of years so don’t know if this is new management but it certainly is a restaurant that we will be returning to on our next visit.
we went with friends for a xmas lunch. The price was reasonable, which should perhaps of been the clue! walking up to the front door I wanted to turn round as it was so untidy garden furniture laying on its side, old bit of stuff just left where it had been dropped. The entrance was a smoking area, in fact we were not sure if it was even open from the outside it looked closed. Food was ok , quite average . did not feel remotely Christmas like I'd definitely not go back
We arrived and commented on how run-down the place has become. I went there with friends and my mother a few years ago and somehow it´s all gone downhill from there. The front door makes you think the restuarant is closed and there are cigarette butts everywhere. The food was good to average and the service was efficient. The place could do with a really good clean. The inside is drab and unwelcoming. A bit underwhelmed by the whole experience. Réservez une table maintenant
We've been calling into the Bull and Bear for the last few Sundays and the Sunday roast is excellent. Also there's a good variety of starters and deserts at reasonable prices. The staff are very welcoming and the garden is a very pleasant place to sit and chill out on a hot day. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.
