My partner, two kids, and I recently visited this restaurant for a roast dinner. Unfortunately, many items on the menu were not available, including mashed potatoes for our roast. They offered us rice as a substitute. The restaurant was not very busy, and I can see why. The roast itself was underwhelming, and the chicken appeared to be past its prime. The staff seemed disinterested in their work. The restaurant has a charming atmosphere and great potential, but in our opinion, the service and food need improvement.
Both my husband and I had the steak and ale pie with mash, pies and gravy. £13 each. It came and I was in shock! How can you change £13 for a chippy-style pie, terrible mash and hard peas? It's a shame as we were with the grandkids who loved the play area. Thought we’d found a new place to take them we could all enjoy. But sorry guys, I wouldn't recommend or come back! Such potential too! Price per person: £10–20
My family and I went out for a meal at this restaurant. Both my mixed grill and my brother's mixed grill were served cold, which was very disappointing. I ended up cancelling my meal and it really put me off. I don't think I will be returning, which is a shame because this place has the potential to be a great pub.

Food was very average, drinks where expensive and menu was very limited. Ordered food and chips and peas where cold. Got another bowl of chips and peas. But the chicken bbq chicken wings where missing. When requested about them, got a single over cooked salt and pepper wing of which I didn't like. The pub is nice but the food could have been hotter. The main meal was just warm, as if it was done ready to come out and was waiting a while. I would return and try again. The pies were overcooked to the point where there was no filling left. The fish was burnt and greasy, and the lemon served with it had no juice. Overall, the food was rated a 1, service a 2, and atmosphere a 2.
Another one I’ve driven past many times for work and was eager to visit. Great place indeed and the chap on the bar assisted me with finding Cask Marque pubs in the area. Top notch
