We went to Tolosa for the Saturday market, and made a day of it. Burruntzi was one of the highlights. It is a family owned asador with an excellent, simple menu. We had the chuleton, which is a thick, beautiful bone-in rib eye. It is prepared simply on the grill, with salt and pepper. Nothing more is needed with a steak of this quality, charred on the outside, perfectly rare inside. We had two orders of the red Gernika peppers, roasted then sauteed with garlic and salt. They are sweet, unctuous, and intense, not hot. With a beautiful bottle of Chivite Reserva, this was a fabulous meal, very reasonably priced. We noticed that a neighboring table had a beautifully grilled whole fish. Can't wait to trek back to the Basque region to try that!

Still enjoying the pics when I see them after a month;this was absolutely the best meat I ever had and being a real meat lover I have quite some experience! The red pimentos were so tastefull, the wine excellent and the service perfect! Don t miss this restaurant if you are in northern spain, worth driving 200 miles for! I am already looking forward to my visit next year!
