Tripadvisor friends, don 't get me wrong. When you get up from the table at Cafe-Restaurant Zum Stehling you are not hungry and the beer was cold, but the quality of the food was average. Not precisely the Gute Bürgerliche Küche (Good German fare) we you can enjoy throughout Germany. The meat was a bit tough and the ambiance at the outside tables left something to be desired. Furthermore, when the salad bar inside was opened, flies attacked the food in the salad bar immediately. As there are better restaurants on the Eupener Strasse, we did not repeat this visit during our stay in a holiday home in Monschau Mützenig. For the readers of this review who want to try Cafe-Restaurant Zum Stehling...
We met on Saturday afternoon standing, hungry after a long hike. We were glad to find that the kitchen was open all day (although we could not find a written record about it, so it would have been coincidence) and were served a solid, well-made German meal. Food prices are, we would say, middle class, but totally fine for the quality you get... the drinks prices were a pleasant surprise (we found that it is often the other way around... They are tempted with a cheap meal and then spend a fortune on drinks). The atmosphere is one of a very large restaurant.. Not unpleasant, though, beautifully decorated. The service was impeccable, although we chose a table that was as far away from the kitch...
We went here two nights in a row because the food was so good. We had only one main meal in both nights, but stayed so full, we couldn't eat anymore. The food is typical German, delicious and very cheap. The staff was also very attentive, there are many parking spaces outside and it is a large enough space that we did not book and got a table right on both nights. Couldn't ask for more!
