I visited the café last week and was amazed by the diverse crowd of people there. A girl caught my eye and graciously invited me to join them for lunch. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that lunch was a buffet, featuring roasted potatoes, pumpkins, salad, beef stew (a delicious Kenyan dish), roasted rice, carbonara, spicy chicken wings, and more - all completely free for everyone! There was a donation can on the table, but no one monitored who contributed. The café was a melting pot of cultures, with Africans, Indians, Middle Easterners, Greeks, Muslims, and Sikhs all mingling together. My friends and I drop into Cafe Salvo often. It has such a great atmosphere, the staff are very friendly and always remember your name. While they don't have much variety in hot food during most days, there is always a selection of cakes and donuts.They are also happy for you to bring food from elsewhere and enjoy it with your coffee. There is a toy corner for the kids with a tv and if you ask someone will pop a movie on for you little one. Best coffee in Melbourne, the staff are fantastic!! Staff are friendly and always willing to chat. I ordered the best latte I've ever had and delicious scroll. I was also there on a Wednesday around lunchtime and the lunch was amazing! I am now a loyal customer :) I would highly recommend cafe salvo to everyone. Café Salvo in Melbourne has the best coffee in town and a fantastic staff! The friendly team is always ready to chat. I recently ordered the best latte I've ever had and a delicious scroll. I visited on a Wednesday at noon and the lunch was fantastic. I highly recommend Café Salvo to everyone for its welcoming atmosphere, delicious coffees, and cakes.
