This was our first visit, and we weren't sure what to expect given the downtown La Verne location, which isn't typically known for authentic Asian cuisine. However, we were all pleasantly surprised by the food quality here, which is heavily inspired by Sichuan cooking. This restaurant would thrive in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley. Now, onto what we ordered:
The whole fried squid was tender and seasoned with a mildly spicy sauce, tasting more like grilled squid—it was fantastic. The house special lamb chops, usually priced at $40 but only $30 on Saturdays, were absolutely worth it. The portions were generous and the lamb was perfectly seasoned.

Absolutely delicious! The Kung Pao chicken served with white rice was fantastic. The chicken was juicy and flavorful, with just the right amount of spice. The onions and peppers were expertly cooked, and the addition of jalapeño provided an enjoyable kick. I also appreciated the attention to detail in the rice presentation. Speaking of which, the rice was perfectly cooked and fresh. This meal could easily satisfy two, or even three, people on the go. Overall, it was a wonderful experience!
Mapo Tofu is fantastic. I generally ask the waiter to reduce the amount of peppercorns. The Dry Pots are also quite good. Their chow mein is among the best I’ve ever had. The stir-fried pork belly with scallions is amazing. Update: I've visited here four times since writing my review and noticed that the service has declined somewhat. I had to get up several times to request water, ask for my check, and ask for takeout boxes. It was disappointing.

Mapo Tofu is excellent. I usually tell the waiter to go a little easy on the peppercorns. Dry Pots are good too. Chow mein is one of the best I've tried ever. I ordered home delivery during COVID and it was my first time trying this restaurant. I was very impressed by the flavors of the food – it was absolutely delicious! I got pork buns, white rice, and orange chicken. Everything was beautifully presented and still hot when it arrived. The taste was as if it had just been made. I'm excited to go back and try their boba and dumplings!
