Awful.. customer service. My mother bought me an ice cream cake from calandras for my birthday party not knowing it was an ice cream cake after one of the girls in the front didn’t specify that it was .my mother asked one of the ladies from the bakery“what’s in it” she specified what was in it and did not mentioned it was an ICE CREAM CAKE. My mom then proceeded to askif she may write down a happy birthday on top of the cake and she did and later the day my mom right away put it in the fridgefor later in the evening . When she went to open it she said it was flat and all melted and got very upset. The next day i thebirthday girl daughter , called the store and told them what had happened acc...
The atmosphere at Calandra's Italian Market Deli is wonderful, and the waitstaff were excellent. However, the food portions were disappointingly small considering the prices. I ordered the Chicken Marsala and received just two tiny pieces of chicken with no pasta, plus a small serving of cold vegetables. Three of us were served together, but our fourth guest had to wait an extra 10 minutes for their meal, despite ordering at the same time. We also ordered dessert—an $8.50 cheesecake that wasn’t a slice but rather a small cheesecake cupcake. Overall, the food was just okay, not impressive. I wouldn’t recommend this place or return; it’s far too expensive for the portion sizes and service.
The bakery here is fantastic, offering a wide selection of pastries, cookies, cakes, and more. I tried the cannoli, and it was delicious. At the main restaurant, I had the mussel pasta (forgot the exact name), which I really enjoyed—the mussels were great, and the pasta had a mild spicy kick, so avoid it if you’re sensitive to spice. I’d rate the pastries 5 stars and the pasta about 4. Overall, it was a pleasant experience; I’d consider coming back, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.
What a beautiful place! Really lovely interior and a massive place to be! My large group had a very good time here and the bakery was so impressive! I did not like the gluten free pizza I had, but everyone else loved their meal and was very pleased.
