When I lived in the neighborhood I loved coming here. It was always where I brought friends from out of town. Since I moved a couple of years ago, I’ve only been a handful of times but each time it’s been disappointing, to the point I can’t justify going here anymore. Some menu items aren’t as described, some food is great but most is pretty basic. Service has been the worst part though. Eye rolling, scoffing at requests like “can I have a glass for the margaritas too” (because they brought too few) and being laughed at when you ask if you could have chips when they didn’t bring any with the chips and salsa you ordered (after waiting 10 minutes to ask because people forget things, it happens...

Cantina was one of the first places that I went when I moved to the area years back, so it has sentimental value for me. It helps that it has high quality food and a fun vibe! On this particular trip, my husband's parents were in town, so we went to Cantina for an early dinner after checking out the Brandywine Museum earlier that day. I had the Beef Quesabirria for my dish and the Modelo Froze (forgot the exact name) for my drink. I would certainly recommend both if you stop by (which you absolutely should). Cantina has saved me from many a hungry night when other restaurants around were closed. If they left East Passyunk, I would die. 10 stars out of 5.
This is a tough review to write. The food was really good. Beyond traditional Mexican fare, this restaurant offers multiple choices for vegan/vegetarian dietary restrictions. We got the platanos, esquites, vegan tamales, and chilaquiles, and they were all delicious. All that said, we were underwhelmed by the quality of the service, and that may be an understatement. While I can understand slow service when a place is busy and understaffed on a Sunday afternoon, I won’t give a pass to snarky, unwarranted treatment. Unfortunately, we were subject to both. It may have just been a bad day, but not sure we’ll return.
Cantina Los Caballitos in Philadelphia is a Mexican cuisine gem. The vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff create the best dining environment. The real standout, though, is their outstanding margaritas! Open late, it's the perfect spot for a delicious dinner or post-midnight snack. The blend of flavors, inviting ambiance, and convenient late-night service make this a must-visit for an unforgettable Mexican dining experience in South Philly. Cheers to a culinary gem! This place is like that old friend you run into and actually DONT hide from lol always nice to catch up, it's comforting and exciting at the same time. Loved sitting by ourselves in the corner with the birds. Little finches everywhere. Felt like Cinderella. Vegan and vegetarian options make it easy to take a group here as well.
Just not great quality. Didn?t finish anything. Margaritas tasted like corn syrup, queso tasted like velvet-a, crab empanadas tasted like the crab came out of a can. Not bad for Happy Hour prices but didn?t finish anything because of the taste. Best part was the chips. Cute atmosphere outside though.
Really nice friendly staff. I have a food allergy and the waitress took out their list of ingredients for everything I ordered. She wanted to make sure nothing was getting past her! I really appreciated the attentiveness. Tacos were great and the nachos were yummy!
Has a great outdoor seating area. The servers are very friendly and helpful and speedy. Food is always fresh hot delicious. If you?re in Philadelphia on E. Passyunk Ave. this is a must stop Réservez une table maintenant
One of my all time favorites. Creative Margherita, city-wides, and a wonderful outdoor dining area. Has become a staple in the neighborhood
