I'm a long time patron of Carneys Restaurant in Cape May. I understand the circumstances of today's staffing issues and finding kitchen help and professional culinary skilled help. But the food wasn't up to par ordered a Grilled Chicken Caesar salad burgerplatter and a crab cake sandwich platter. The Fry later oil was old, fries were cooked and over cooked, crab cake sandwichplatter didn't have the sauce that it comes with. Then we get to a traditional chicken Caesar salad It comes with no chicken Igive it politely back to the wonderful server who was excellent in her service. I was hesitant to try this restaurant because of some recent negative reviews, but I'm glad I decided to give it a shot. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were seated quickly and received excellent service throughout our visit. The food was tasty, and the drinks were well-crafted. The atmosphere was lively, thanks to a band playing. My only complaint—though it has nothing to do with the venue itself—was that the loud music made it difficult to have a decent conversation. Other than that, I highly recommend this place. It's a great spot for a casual meal and drinks.
My wife and I visited Cape May on our honeymoon and stopped by Carney’s, which is a must-visit. It was fantastic in every way! We had a burger and Old Bay fries, and both were delicious! The restaurant has a charming old-fashioned vibe and is located near a small city beach. The staff was very friendly and polite. You definitely need to check this place out! Thank you, Carney’s—definitely a place to return to!
I ordered fish tacos, broiled crab cake sandwiches, and a variety of small plates. Overall, the food was satisfactory, and I enjoyed a few drinks from the "Handcrafted Cocktails" menu. The service was quick and friendly, which was nice since there weren't many tables occupied. Terrible experience with the bartenders! They were quite rude. When we requested a straw for our drink, the older bald bartender at the back bar gave us an attitude. He then grabbed a straw and slammed it onto the dirty bar in front of us, before glaring at us for a while. There are plenty of other options out there, and I would suggest avoiding this overpriced place at all costs!
The food was enjoyable, although some items were a bit pricey. We attended the Summer Shore Tour, and our waiter, Ben, was exceptional. We learned during our service that it was his first night on the job. Considering the circumstances, he did an outstanding job. We were very pleased with his service.
One waitress on duty. Very slow service. People were leaving. Not her fault but not good. Burgers were tasty but rather small sized. Waited a very long time for a warm, diluted $10 chocolate milkshake (price wasn?t on the menu). Overall not agood experience. Won?t be returning.
