I was really disappointed with the service at Carr Mill today. Despite the pub not being too busy, it took 30 minutes for our drinks to arrive, which was the same amount of time it took for our meals to be served. While Eleanor and another server were friendly and helpful, the rest of the staff barely acknowledged us and didn't say a word. When our desserts arrived, the ice cream was nearly melted, and it took the server ten minutes to retrieve the rest of our desserts from the kitchen. Absolutely disgusting. By the time I got my food, the others had nearly eaten theirs and mine was cold and rubbery. My husband said his mash tasted like it had come out of a packet. Staff did come out, eventually, to explain why mine was late, the person who was doing the cooking wasn’t a chef because all they’d chefs had been given the night off and they had forgotten to put something on mine so they were waiting for it to cook. We did get free desserts. When I found out that they had turned the coffee machine off, before we had finished eating, I was less than impressed. We encountered an issue with our main dishes, but the manager was incredible—she refunded us and offered complimentary drinks and desserts for the kids. She truly went above and beyond. The place was quite hectic when we visited, but the staff handled it all exceptionally well. However, I was quite irritated by some of the older customers who were downright rude to the staff. Despite that, I cannot praise the team enough. My little boy got upset while watching a video, and a staff member who was cleaning a nearby table noticed and brought him a toy to cheer him up. Aside from the hiccup with our mains, the rest of the food was amazing, and we will definitely be back!
We stopped by for a quick snack and some drinks. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly. The prices were quite reasonable as well. We only ordered desserts and were pleased with the chocolate fudge cake topped with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream. However, we noticed there weren't many dairy-free options available. We had hoped to find sandwiches on the menu but couldn't find any. If you enjoy fried food, there are plenty of choices. My latte was delicious, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their pot of tea. I recently enjoyed a Sunday lunch and ordered the roast beef dinner. It was excellent—tender, well-cooked beef accompanied by plenty of vegetables and roast potatoes, along with Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy. The presentation was impressive, and the service was provided by a cheerful, friendly, and polite lady. The only reason I didn't give a full five stars for service is that there was only one person working at the bar. Overall, it was a delightful lunchtime experience.
Food was nice and some things a bit different but parts of the meal were cold and the plates were cold so didn't keep the food warm long enough which was a shame. Also took an age to come. Two people who were sat close to us and ordered around 45 mins after us got theirs straight after ours. Place was clean.
Went for some tea a couple of weeks ago. Greene King menu. The food was OK, few things missing off the menu but they had no heating on. People sat there in their coats. I'll wait till summer to contemplate going back I think. Lager was fine. Réservez une table maintenant
