During our visit to the area for skiing, we decided to try out this pub which was conveniently located just a few minutes away from our hotel. We were looking for a new dining experience every night during our stay and we weren't disappointed! The pub is situated on the main stretch in downtown, making it easily accessible for us after a day on the slopes. The service was exceptional, and Steve, our server, was a delight. He was quite the character and reminded us of Neil from the Brown Derby in Armstrong or the folks who ran Nick's place in Nakusp. I recently dined at this restaurant with a friend for lunch. I ordered the famous fish tacos while my friend got the yam fries. Unfortunately, both dishes were quite disappointing. The food was edible, but lacked flavor and was overly crispy. The service was slow, with the owners seeming more interested in chatting with regular customers than attending to us. There were long periods of time where we were left unattended at our table, both between ordering drinks and food, and when we asked for the bill. If you find yourself in Castlegar, you have to stop here. It doesn't matter whether you stop in for a drink or a meal, you won't be disappointed. The food is great! The atmosphere is cool. But the best reason of all is the proprietor,...Stephen! Meeting someone like him is the reason we love to travel. The food and the ambiance was just the icing on the cake. And the wine....well, he has two kinds! Red and White. Both are equally as tasty.
We ordered takeout on a recent business trip to the area. I ordered nachos with meat. I found it to expensive, at 20 dollars. But, I’d be happy to pay it, if the food was good.
