This was a cool experience. I typically don't even go to farmer's markets in my own city/state, but I do enjoy visiting other farmer's markets in different cities, states countries. I like to check out food items indigenous to the area. Not only is this market full of character, but it's historical as well! It's the oldest continuously publicly operating farmer's market in the country since 1730!Hours are limited : TUES,FRI SAT 7am 3PM although on the doors it says 6am 3pm call to verify. So plan accordingly. Some businesses take only cash, so come prepared with cash credit! If you take pictures be sure to just ask before you do. Some allow it, some have signs not to. if they are in lancaster on Tuesday, Friday or Saturday, they must go to the lancaster central market. it is historically significant, a great place for souvenirs, and they find some great vegan items in the midst of the pa Dutch meat and milk specialities. my favorite is the lancaster juice company for smoothies (always taste incredible and the herb shop! Some of the providers selling lotions and soaps are sometimes not the craftsman himself, but they are in the rule about the ingredients to identify possible animal components. updated from previous review to 2017-05-26
This market is worth a visit if you are looking for local fare and unique options for teas and meets and other things but the isles are narrow and the crowds can be large. We visited on a Saturday and found it too crowded to navigate without much difficulty and even some frustration.Parking on the street was a no-go so we went to the garage nearby. We did eventually find a few items that were interesting and the rest, pass.I’m glad we visited but wish it were a little less of a mob scene
Honestly, the only thing I'm going for is the ice cream coffee and fresh vegetables. It is usually extremely busy. This location is beautiful because it has several different providers all at one location. You have to pay for parking on the street. On weekends, the lots can be filled. Great selection of produce and ready made foods to choose from. The area has a terrific feel to it, and is conveniently located near many shops and restaurants downtown. The aisles are a bit tight but the amount of vendors is great. The market is clean and organized, offering a wide range of different foods for any palate.
From fresh local products, handcrafted goods such as jams and sauces, random gifts, crafts and more! The central market has everything. Moreover, the fact that it is the oldest, continuously running public market in the country is quite cool.

Oldest farmers market in the US. Great selection of meats cheeses candies spices vegetables and fruit. Many booths have prepared foods. We got soft pretzels and they were awfully good. Open Tues Fri Sat. Réservez une table maintenant
The historical downtown market is a fun place to go, you can pick up lunch, flowers, and local products. It’s so nice to see traditions live on and the market is still thriving.
