I've always wanted to go to Chaophraya as I've heard lovely things about it. Unfortunately, on this evening, the standard fell far short of what I'd expected. We had booked the Glasgow restaurant week menu. The staff didn't seem to know anything about it and my friend who was organising the evening had to point it out to them on her phone booking., and after staff had a discussion with the manager we were given menus. After waiting 20 mins I asked if we were getting prawn crackers as appetisers as stated on the menu. Again staff were surprised. Drinks were slow to arrive. Main course of crispy sweet and sour chicken with dragonfruit was neither crispy nor sweet and sour- just very bland, not...
When we arrived we had a lovely note to congratulate us on our anniversary which was lovely but then we noticed how dirty our table was underneath! Food and wrappers from the previous guests. The service for food and drinks was so slow! We only got served 1 drink in over and hour and to physically go and get someone for the 2nd. The first course came out fine then it was over a 20 minute wait for the next course. The food was fine but bland. Our server told us she was actually a receptionist so not trained so paying a 12.5% service charge at the end was a hard pill to swallow. I have enjoyed my visits and food in Chaophraya hence us going back all the time. Unfortunately this time around was disappointing. There is an evening set menu in the website which we had to ask for this should have been offered with the main menu). I ordered the Butternut Squash Red Curry and decided to pay the supplement for prawns to Be added. Our main course arrived more than 30 minutes after our starters were cleared. The curry was very thin almost like soup and there were three pieces of prawns. The taste was bland and flavourless. We go to this restaurant every year with family as we loved it however sadly t's went massively downhill. Restaurant is tired, food average, not what we are used to as it used to be superb the service too. Main downfall is service which was terrible. From arrival to starter was good then we were left alone. When mains came order was wrong for one of our party waitress seemed to get annoyed actually argued a bit then disappeared. One star for starters as they were nice, second star is for the poor service which the manager waved as we complained he agreed). Knocked off some money from our drinks bill. After arriving at 1950hrs for our reservation we were taken to our table. After waiting over 15mins we asked a waiter if we could order drinks. We then placed our food order . After waiting an hour we asked where our starters were to be told we were next but one table. We had our starters and once they were cleared we sat for another 50 mins and still no main course so we left. Very poor service. If we had been kept informed of the delay and as to why it was happening it wouldn't of been so bad. Nobody spoke or interacted with us in the 2 hrs or so we were there. There were others around us in the same situation too. Very disappointed
We have visited this restaurant many times over the years and we have found the food at all times to be of a very good standard and recently most exceptional. Over last past 2 months we had lunch at least 4 times and dinner with family all the food was delicious and very well presented. They now have an extended lunch menu which gives a lot more choice. I would say the fact that we keep going back to this restaurant speaks for itself. I should mention our server Linda as she was very polite and conscientious. Can't wait to go back, looking forward to it.

Noisy busy restaurant very Glasgow. Enjoyed the atmosphere and ambience once I'd settled down. We all enjoyed our meal the food was good enough. There are probably better Thai restaurants to try but we'd still return to try other dishes. The wine was very good and I couldn't fault the staff.
