We have been going to Grill On The Hill pretty much since it first opened in the early 90s. Over the past 7 or so years the children of the founder Peter, have grown up and are now running of the restaurant. Beautiful façade, classy entry.Walked in with a group, promptly seated. Noisy.Efficient waitress but low empathy.Food?Scotch fillet steak 300gm @$49 +++ with shredded cabbage and average chips and Cos lettuce leaves (1 leaf per person)Took me 30 minutes to munch through.. Those who ate similar left much gristle on the plate. And a chicken fillet @$37 The wine @ $80 was not cellared properly. The restaurant was busy busy. I counted 25+ covers on an afternoonIf the can get away with it at an average $70+ / person at Lunch, good for them.It only exposes the taste and class of the diner.The question is Pay big money to be seen?
A party of 10 on arrival we were told bluntly by the waitstaff that we were required to have at least two courses. This set the tone for the rest of the evening. We enjoyed the steak which was accompanied by ordinary fries,Cos lettuce salad and shredded cabbage provided for the table. Wine was very expensive with only a couple of brands less than $80 and the majority very expensive too expensive for this type of establishment.
Had a very good dinner here - unfortunately like another review I made recently else where, the steaks weren't the tastiest I've ever had, but they were excellently cooked and the sauce was yum. Very knowledgable host especially with regards to their wine list. Would recommend and visit again.

Friendly knowledgeable staff made my choosing a meal (meat, meat & more meat) easy. Steak was tender and cooked to perfection. Good wine to accompany, and a lovely pickled cabbage (seriously). Pity I'm surrounded by vegetarians. However a great place for going solo, as well as in a group.
Fantastic beef sausage entree, rib eye steak, cheese platter, matching reds and my mate "the Bear" had his favourite dessert. Was closest experience to heaven for a meat and red wine lover. One of the best steak restaurants on planet earth. I will be back when I am in Melbourne next.
Steak cooked to perfection, sides good, chips lovely and crispy. Did not bother with wine as only have 1 glass. Not an alcohol drinking family. Pricey for those on a tight budget. I thoroughly enjoyed the night. Great experience
We have kept on returning to this restaurant for over 20 years, and has always been excellent. No point in going if you are a vegetarian. Go for steaks, wine list, great service, and atmosphere.

Excellent food excellent wine and the fries were cooked to perfection associate and i had a hearty lunch on a cold Kew Day and the service was 100% back soon
