5 stars for the food. Minus 1 star for service. Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way. We waited a long time for the mains to be served. The waitress made a mistake and served my Beef Wellington to another table. She only realised the mistake 2 mins later and took the plate away from them and brought it to us. In a normal non-covid circumstance, I wouldn't be too fussy. But in this environment, it is a potential health risk. I wasnt even sure if that table dipped their fork or spoon into my main. I came here on Friday night with my parents and boyfriend for an early birthday dinner! One of my favourite french restaurants in the North Shore has recently changed hands and I haven't enjoyed it so much so I wanted to find a new favourite and THANK YOU Chez Maurice et Linda because you are now it!There was absolutely nothing to fault. The first experience: The lovely experience started as soon as we walking into the restaurant where we were warmly greeted by Daniel [the head waiter]. There were 6 of us and when we were seated we noted the ambiance was as if we had arrived in a French restaurant in Paris. Amazing, authentic French food along with the kindest, attentive staff. We came as a table of 6 and ordered the 3 course meal each. We were pleasantly surprised with the wide variety of food offered. The scallops, snails, salmon and fish of the day were my favourite savoury dishes. The profiteroles, sorbet and pancakes were also a bit. All the dishes were delicious and generous portions. First time vistit last night to Chez Maurice Et Linda and it was great. Our waitress was very friendly and professional and the food was terrfic. This is the place to go to if you like traditional French dishes, like Escargot, French Onion soup, Chateaubriand, Bouillabaisse, Crêpe Suzette, Crème Brûlée. It's beautiful French home cooking. Then menu hasn't change much over the years and that's why we keep coming back, we know what we are getting.
For the first time in many visits I was disappointed the with main course. Beef was cooked rare and not med. rare as ordered. it was chewy and hard to swallow. Because of past experiences I will give this restaurant another chance. I have previously recommended it highly.
