We visited Chow Chow due to the great reviews on TA but was sadly disappointed! The lady was frosty rather than friendly. To start we ordered spring rolls, butterfly prawns and crispy seaweed they were ok but you can always tell a good Chinese...by the crispy seaweed it was slightly chewy! We ordered chicken and cashew nuts, sweat and sour chicken (not a lot of chicken), rice, noodles again ok but nothing special. My wife ordered the deep fried shredded beef (spicy) half way through the meal but that was a mistake!! When they say spicy it was very spicy and swimming in sauce. Very disappointed and I am sorry but I wouldn't return. Not to my taste!
Been many times and always had a great meal. All food cooked to order without MSG. Lovely couple run this restaurant and always welcoming. BYOB is a great perk as sometimes a wine menu can be disappointing and over priced. All dishes are very reasonably...priced. Would recommend for casual dining for family with kids, friend or just couples.
I love this place. felt forced to write a review as I am a big fan of green curry and order it every time so I don't agree at all with the review below! I wish they were delivered because it would be my way to .place, we live a little too far away to reach chow chow often, but it never disappointed.
we have gone to chow chow, since it first opened and continues regularly for meal in the house and we take away. eating is always excellent and the service warm and friendly. without doubt one of our favorite restaurants.

Canteen style place with a basic setting, but really great home cooked eating. not gloopy' like a chinese, really fresh and clean. beautiful service and delicious food.
today we have placed a rather large order that has arrived very quickly (via deliveroo). eating was really nice and very valuable. take one of the best I ever had.
so an amazing restaurant, fresh and tasty eating, beautiful people and fast service. no complaining, would recommend anyone to request an authentic experience.
Ordered Take away pleasant lady on the phone taking order, the food was hot very tasty and well packaged, a very pleasant and tasty experience would recommend.

that's really one of my favorite restaurants. chow chow is a very small family business, but they serve the best eating around and have amazing employees.
please do not order the Thai dishes especially the green curry that is watery and tasteless. the sauce looked like dirty water. the Chinese dishes are ok
