My sister and I were exploring up-island and decided to stop at Church St. after the brewery we were at only had vegan-friendly snacks. The service was great and we didn't have to wait long on a busy Saturday evening. The beer selection was good, as were the non-alcoholic options. However, the vegan menu options were a bit limited. The vegan poutine was tasty with homemade vegetable gravy that would satisfy even a meat-eater, and a generous amount of Daiya cheese. One suggestion for improvement would be to cut the fries in-house for a fresher taste. Unfortunately, the nachos were disappointing with just Daiya cheese, pre-diced tomatoes, pickled peppers, and black beans - missing key ingredie...
We booked the outdoor/backyard area for a 30 person event (an unconventional wedding reception) and it could not have gone better. Dealing with a group of our size must have been a logistical nightmare, but the staff at Church Street made it look like an absolute breeze.We have always loved the taphouse as a casual spot to go with a couple of friends, but I can now also confidently say there is no better place for a medium sized event.Thank you SO much to everyone involved! If anyone is considering booking something here, go for it! This is hands down the best spot in the Comox Valley.
5 Stars to the incredibly hard working gang at Church St. Taphouse! We are consistently impressed with the food, drinks and atmosphere every time we're there. There is truly nothing in the valley quite like it and our 1st choice for treating our team to a night out! Based on family recommendations, we were expecting more from this restaurant. The brisket quesadilla was a huge letdown for $20 - it came with no side dish, only a tablespoon of salsa, and tiny slices of beef. My wife's salad was drenched in dressing, and they even refused to give her sauerkraut for her Bavarian sausage. Come on CST, you can do better than this. Réservez une table maintenant
I stopped by after a walk around downtown Comox. The open air vibe (September), was really nice on this warm day. The food looked and smelled great, granted I just had a few beers and no food. They have good background music and a friendly attentive staff. There is outdoor and indoor seating, but no views of the bay.I recommend a stop here.
I didn't send it back because I was in a hurry, but if I had the chance, I'm sure even the cook wouldn't want to eat it. The server didn't ask about my meal, and I didn't want to get up to find her to complain. How can a restaurant serve food like that without feeling embarrassed? I won't be returning to this restaurant.
The restaurant offers typical pub food for meat-eaters. I didn't see any vegan options on the menu. We ordered the poutine and nachos. If I lived closer, I might visit more often. However, I wouldn't go out of my way to drive 5 minutes off the highway for this place while passing through.
We didn't even have a chance to order drinks. Despite being seated, no one came to take our order. After waiting for over 20 minutes, we decided to leave.
