Recently opened and entering an area with many, many good pizza restaurants. Can they build a regular customer base and survive? The place: Located in a small strip mall on Old Bridge Turnpike near a busy, tangled intersection with Route 18. Looks like they did some renovation before opening. On the smaller side but fine. The food: Nothing really stands out. Pizza is just ok, same for the subs. They do offer Rutgers-style Fat sandwiches, if you are looking for that. I went there for a pizza when they first opened several months ago and thought it was just ok, nothing special. Maybe a little too thin for thin crust pizza. But I gave them another shot using one of their coupons that included garlic knots. Well, 2nd time wasn't the charm. Pizza was dry as can be, and the topping was put on very scantily compared to other local pizza parlors, and the garlic knots were just dreadful. And another oddity to me at least is I noticed they don't put an expiration date on their coupons but instead put something (don't quote me) like for a limited time. Pizza is decent. My main complaint (as is my main complaint with most pizza parlors) is the quality of the pepperoni. Their pepperoni is better than the chain pizza pepperoni that most places around here use, but still not great. If they went up to a good pepperoni, they would get 5 stars. So, better than Dominos/Bellissimo/Vinnys, but not as good as Pasquale.
I had a poor experience with ordering using their online option pizza was made poorly and incorrectly. Delivery girl was polite and helpful, called the next day and the manager fixed the situation and the pizza I received was much better. I would give them another try, hopefully they are still just working out the kinks of a new business.
