A few months ago, my husband, our 1.5-year-old son, and I dined at this restaurant. Unfortunately, both my husband and I felt nauseous shortly after our meal. Later that night, our son ended up with food poisoning and was sick throughout the night. I decided to call the restaurant to inform them about what happened, but I didn't feel taken seriously at all. Given the timing and my instinct, I strongly believe we became ill from the food we were served. After speaking with someone, I was assured that they would call me back to rectify the situation, but no one ever followed up. We recently hosted our son's Rehearsal Dinner/Meet and Greet in Raleigh. Living out of town, the task of coordinating this event was a tad bit overwhelming. Imagine our good luck to find our well known Columbus City Barbecue and Catering in the Raleigh area! Our choice was made instantly. Lynn Wittig is a true gift-she helped us find a location, listened to my ideas and provided us with a menu that people are STILL raving about! We couldn't be happier with how the evening played out. On a downside, this location forgot to include my bread in my take-out order. While I didn’t really need it, I did pay for it, and I was refunded. The missing item was a bit frustrating, but aside from that, the sampler has been a fantastic go-to for protein that can last me up to two days when I don’t feel like cooking. Overall, I’d say City Barbecue is a definite yes for me!
Came here on the first and last day of our trip to Raleigh. BEST pulled pork sandwich we’ve ever had! Nashville chicken sandwich was amazing too. Potato salad was great. Banana pudding is FANTASTIC! Highly recommend this place. Staff is very friendly We rarely go somewhere twice on vacation to get a variety but this place was so good we had to come back

I opted for a delightful assortment that included brisket, Texas toast, pork ribs, pulled pork, coleslaw, and various sauces. The service was commendable, and the food was outstanding; the sauces perfectly complemented the meats. I returned for an exceptional lunch featuring crispy ribs and slaw fries. The crispy ribs are a definite must-try!
The brisket is typically very good. With good bark and not too much fat. I usually get the brisket sandwich and my wife likes the one on toast with horseradish sauce. Good macaroni and cheese. Very good cornbread. My son always wants to go here for cornbread. The sweet tea is among the best I’ve ever had.
We visited for the first time and found it quite busy, but we actually enjoyed the wait. The food was amazing—the brisket was exceptional, and the pulled pork sandwich was just as good. We also loved the green side dish. My wife can't stop talking about the banana pudding—it's delicious! Mmmm.
Had dinner right off a flight and it was a great welcome back to NC. The brisket sandwich is the only entree I’ve tried (twice now) and it was delicious. The restaurant keeps with true bbq fashion by being unpretentious in decor. Definitely worth a stop if you’re liking with good bbq.

This is our favorite BBQ spot in town. I particularly enjoy the ribs and brisket. We have been coming here for years, and the food is always fresh. The restaurant is consistently clean when we dine in. We will definitely return!
