We just got to town and wanted to walk on the beach at sunset. Afterwards we were ready for dinner and a quick Google search lead me to this place. I loved the atmosphere. You can eat outside, if seats are available, with a view of the ocean. They have a upper level bar, which we didn't go up to. It is kid-friendly. I saw something about an elevator, but didn't need it..but the entire place is up a couple flights of stairs. We walked from the street side and you kind of have to walk behind other restaurants to get there. We decided to make the journey from Mt. Pleasant back to our hometown of Isle of Palms for our 8th anniversary dinner. We picked Coconut Joe's primarily for its lovely ambiance. We only waited about 10 minutes for a spot on the rooftop deck, and the host was friendly and accommodating. Our waitress, Christi, was excellent as well. The food was decent, particularly the fried shrimp and French fries. However, the pimento cheese grits weren't hot enough to my taste, and the cinnamon apples were smothered in a thick syrup. While it's a bit on the pricey side, you’re really paying for the stunning view! It's definitely worth the outing just for the location!
We visited on a Saturday night and were pleasantly surprised to find no wait for a table inside! After a long day at the beach, this restaurant was exactly what we needed. Although we were in our sandy beach attire and had to wait a little while for our food, the view was fantastic and our waiter was very friendly! The menu offered a wide variety of delicious options, and each of us was extremely satisfied with our meals. We highly recommend this place to anyone near the beach, especially for the coconut shrimp!
Great place to eat out by the beach. Food was good and they were able to put together a setting for 14 people. There will be a wait time but the are busy because of the great atmosphere. Noah our server is what customer service and satisfaction is about. Multi-tasking and politeness with being positive. Satisfied is not correct to say but impressive is what was witnessed in today 's world of restaurant experiences.!!!!

I was in Charleston for business and decided to venture to Isle of Palms. I had vacationed there with family many years ago and wanted to see it again. I found this gem while there. I imagine in the summer it is jam packed, but in February there was just a small group. Great service, friendly staff. I had a mix of dry rub lemon pepper and Old Bay seasoned wings. So so good! Would love to return in the summer!
Ocean front views are killer. Extensive frozen drinks menu that?s very creative and fun, and a cocktails menu that?s wide ranging and tropical feeling. Fried pickles rock. Surprisingly good salads for a seafood joint. Excellent fries. The soft shelled crab sandwich not on the menu but available in season was amazing. A little loud, but worth it for the outdoor seating and views.
This used to be my favorite spot on Isle of Palms, but now I'm not so sure. I love the view, which is right on the beach and has a covered area. The atmosphere is pleasant, but the service has been slow and not always welcoming. Unfortunately, the food isn't as good as it used to be. Management needs to improve staffing, both on-site and at the entrance.
The Shrimp Nachos and Coconut Shrimp Tacos were outstanding. The prices were reasonable, too. The service could have been a bit more attentive, and there was a slight wait for the food, but it was definitely worth it. The beach view was fantastic, and we enjoyed a few drinks, with the Lowcountry Lemonade being the standout.

Two levels of oceanfront outdoor seating make this a great option for dining out during Covid-19. It was worth the 30 minute wait for a late lunch! The salmon was perfectly cooked for the salad and the shrimp po-boy did not disappoint either.
The food was excellent and plentiful. The only thing better was the service at both the bar and the table. Plus the view of the ocean was a bonus
