I checked TripAdvisor for casual breakfast spots while in the area. I came across this place and decided to walk down Druid Street to find what appeared to be a closed arch at 98. Luckily, we found a door slightly open in the shuttering. When we entered, we found ourselves in a bakery with people busy baking pastries. The entrance is actually from the passage on the other side of the railway, not from Druid Street. What a gem! They have a great selection of pastries and excellent coffee, served by incredibly friendly staff. There are indoor seating options as well as tables outside. The atmosphere is really nice and it's a must-visit for a simple breakfast.

I recently walked past The Gourmand located on Bermondsay Street around 6:30pm on a Thursday. The restaurant had set up 6 tables, offering an evening menu with options such as charcuterie and quiche. I thoroughly enjoyed a perfectly crafted cocktail made with rum and cinnamon. What really stood out to me, though, was the friendly and welcoming staff. They were attentive to me as a solo diner and even surprised me with a free pastry at the end of my meal. The restaurant is a great spot for solo diners, but I also noticed two couples enjoying the peaceful and romantic atmosphere.

I was disappointed by the canelés I tried at Borough Market. I was excited to see them piled up nicely and at an affordable price, but unfortunately, they did not meet my expectations. The texture was too doughy, rather than soft and fluffy as I had hoped. What was most disappointing was the lack of a light, crunchy caramelization on the outside. I did not try anything else from the stall.

We stopped in for a couple of coffees and a brionut each. I had the pomme cannelle which is delicious if you like apple and cinnamon. Good coffee and the place smells great too. There’s the option of some lovely savoury goods in there and you can have a really decent if not decadent brunch or lunch in there. We’ll be stopping on here when we go to Bermondsey going forward. Atmospheric and quirky, this place is always open even when the buzzy Maltby Street food market is not in operation. Great for a coffee and a pastry or tasty tart. Tucked away in an old railway arch ... the bakery bit looks vast ... the café bit is cosy and quirky. I haven't yet tried out the other three Comptoirs in Bermondsey, Borough and Soho.

Excellent place for a quick breakfast. Authentic French pastries ; croissants, pains au chocolat etc. Atmospheric in the under the arches branch, with trains rattling overhead. Recomended.

Best almond croissant in London bar none! Lovely coffee and great to chat with the bakers who seemed to really enjoy what they were doing and we really enjoyed eating their results! Réservez une table maintenant
