Having had two positive experiences here, it was a tad disappointing to find the meal was variable in quality and value for money on this last occasion .I ordered the 'special ' bao buns ,expecting a lovely homemade generous portion only to be presented with two commercially available ? Itsu buns with a small garnish costing a small fortune, so a very hefty profit involved .The garlic mushrooms were incredibly salty and oily -unpleasant . When you ask a table how they are finding the meal ,you should be trained sufficiently to be able to respond appropriately to criticism -this was not the case here .We were given the equivalent of a shrug of the shoulder and no attempt was made to apologise...
AVOID AVOID AVOID !! Absolute appalling customer service . I’d heard very mixed reviews about this place, mostly due to the management but as it’s my local I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt. What a mistake that was. I visited Connollys on Friday and Saturday, On the first occasion I was sat down outside having a quiet drink before meeting with friends. A lady I now know to be Jo, the owner spoke down to me in a very derogatory manner. I thought nothing of it and popped in again the next day, I was again spoken down too by the husband of Jo , Tony. was staying in a hotel nearby . walked past and saw the place was busy . spoke to the owner who managed to squeeze us in on a very busy night . had a couple of drinks while they sorted us a table out . all the staff were very polite and helpful with the menu . the food and service was top notch . had a good vibe and buzz about the place . we had a lovely evening and will go back when were in the area gain . thank you .
