We booked for The Fire and Water night via Bookme and paid $42 vs the normal price of $58.Not guests there luckily as we found the bar small dark and unwelcoming for such a big hotel.We had to dine before 6.30 and luckily we got in early as a coachload of Chinese guests arrived soon after and swarmed over all the food.But food was plentiful and the chefs coped well.Service was good if a not a little too quick as we found our plates and cutlery were whipped away as soon as we put them down.It was supposed to be eat as much as you like but we got the feeling they try to limit this.We had to dine inside as outside was for a special function only which was dissapointing as we would have liked to...
Went back again for the oysters and the grill. Oysters were tiny as before and some were still frozen but taste is strong as you can expect from little oysters. Tiger prawns were big and fat as well. Couldnt go wrong with the grill as order, love the prawns and steak. Hot food was surprising good especially the carbonara with penne! Dessert was horrible as experienced and expected for all seafood buffet so didnt really mind if they have the dessert session or not. Bit expensive for the options but not much to choose from if you are looking for a seafood buffet in Cairns.Will need to work on table service
While it appeared that the buffet was the main attraction for most people, we are always more inclined to eat off the a-la-carte menu. Granted it was a busy Thursday night before the Easter weekend, but service was a bit slow. The food was fine, and rather plentiful, there was a kids menu available, and they were happy to substitute fries with vegetable, but It was pretty noisy with a number of large groups booked in.
Went to fire and ice tonight, have been there many times before enjoy the food, I just don't understand why cream is the only option as a sauce for the food the the chef cooks up in front of you when there are so many other options that could be used! I suppose it's great to try the first time...it just gets boring if you go too many times ie twice a year.

After an exhausting flight my friend and I decided to eat here rather than trail around the town looking for a place to dine. The place was quiet being a Monday although there seemed to be a group going for the Fire and Ice Buffet. We had really dood service and the food was delicious.
We had the buffet. Food was fresh and plentiful but disappointed that the variety of meats being cooked has been reduced significantly. Oysters were small but tasty as were the prawns. Local prawns in the chilled section but the garlic prawns were not local.
Das Coral Hedge ist einfach nur das (oder ein) Hotelrestaurant des Rydges Hotel in Cairns. Es ist nicht besonders schön und bietet auch keine außergewöhnlichen Speisen (gut aber aber nicht mehr).Der Renner ist wohl das Buffet, was wir aber nicht wollten.
There aren't many options. And it's worse if you're vegetarian or vegan. My only options as a vegetarian were steamed vegetables, potato salad or steamed potato. Stay clear if you have any dietary constraints. Or taste buds.

Buffet is over priced for the very limited selections.Seafood was average. Chef creation section was basic and limited. Dessert was terrible the banana cake was made in banana essence and coloured in yellow.
To sit and enjoy the selection of food for breakfast lunch and dinner is delightful and to be able to relax while enjoying the meal makes it worthwhile.
