A wonderfully secluded and beautiful traditional' hotel. I had a one night stay at Coul House and was fortunate to get some great weather. Having walked around the extensive and well maintained gardens and then sitting on the terrace in the afternoon sunshine looking at the horses in the field at the end of the lawn, I felt relaxed and very content. The room itself was fine, not spectacular but clean, comfortable and quiet. The restaurant was competent but not outstanding: crab, tomato and fennel bisque for a starter was tasty enough but I couldn't detect any fennel.
