Criterion Public House

Took my friend to try out Scottish hospitality that’s relaxed and friendly, with honest food. I’ve wandered past The Criterion a few times over the years….well I’m an idiot for not going in here before! We went for the fish and chips, and the portions are very generous, with a piping hot piece of battered haddock cooked to perfection. We saw the pies going to the other tables……they know what they’re doing here. Great ambiance as happy punters filled the place very quickly. Yet another visit to The Criterion was carried out by myself , my wife, this time with son and fiancee along for the birthday cri-pie. The staff who were working at midday Saturday 25th are a credit to Hazel and a fantastic team. They make you feel valued, treat customers with dignity, respect, a friendly welcome and a smile. Now found the best time to go to make sure we get a table to demolish some pies and some drinks, making our long round trip so much more special. Thanks again team for what you do and how you do it. Fab pies again, whether steak or macaroni, a treat to eat

Fabulous pub with great food and drinks. Staff are the best. Friendly, attentive and very knowledgable about the food and drinks on offer. This is excellent, hearty pub grub to a very high standard. We shared the mixed pakora and it was honestly the best pakora I have ever ever tasted. The fish and chips 10 out of 10! I wish I had this pub on my doorstep need to wait for my next trip to St Andrews to sample again,

This is by far our favourite pub in St Andrews added bonus that they serve the best coffee in town great breakfast rolls. Our usual is a roll with Lorne sausage, haggis brown sauce delicious but Chef Mike has added a Belly Buster to the menu which we had to try. Bacon, haggis, Lorne sausage a hash brown while our bellies fortunately didn't burst we didn't need to eat the rest of the day. Definitely worth a visit! Réservez une table maintenant

Went here for dinner last week, and I have to say food and service was of the highest quality, We were made to feel really welcome from the moment we walked in the door and although it was really busy never had to wait for drinks or food service. Would recommend it to anyone visiting St Andrews and will definitely be back for another pie.

Came in for one drink and stayed for food and more drinks because the service was exceptional. Fraser is a credit to the business and can absolutely see why the place stays so busy if you’ve got someone like him working for you. Will definitely be backs. Pies are unreal. Got to give the Guinness Martini a go as well. Cheers guys!

Called in for lunch on Sunday 15th October with my wife. Luckily managed to get a table. We both had one of the famous pies . Absolutely fantastic service. The food was excellent and there was a great atmosphere. Very well run bar can see why it's so popular.

Staff were fantastic, food excellent. Dog friendly and well looked after. New to St Andrews and without doubt this will be regular place to visit. Isla loved the attention and staff could not have been nicer or friendlier. Réservez une table maintenant

We popped in for a drink. The staff were so nice and the atmosphere lovely. We ended up staying for dinner, which was delicious. Had a lovely evening!

Excellent bar with superb attentive staff. Fraser was a real credit to The Centurion and looked after our group fantastically.
