I was really disappointed last night when I went to a restaurant I have visited a couple of times recently and had enjoyed the food. However, last night we had booked a table for 6 people to celebrate my son's birthday. When we arrived, we were given a limited menu with only 5 or 6 options for starters and mains, and 3 dessert choices. We ordered drinks and were later informed that some items were not available as they had run out of 2 starters and all mains except for burgers or fish and chips. Despite the restaurant being quiet at 7pm, we decided to finish our drinks and go elsewhere. Unfortunately, this once wonderful place has taken a turn for the worse. We ordered the Sunday roast, a meal we have enjoyed in the past and often recommended to friends and family. However, the food arrived cold and not as expected - the broccoli was rock hard, the roast potatoes were tough, and the beef was extremely rare and tough. We were unable to cut through it. Despite the empty restaurant, we struggled to find any staff to address our concerns. Eventually, the manager came and offered a free dessert to compensate for our disappointment, which we declined. Disappointed is an understatement. Booked for a large group 16 people for Sunday lunchtime. Was told we had to have roast as it would make it easier for them although there is several options on the Sunday menu. The majority did end up having roasts and what a massive disappointment it was. Never had veg so undercooked in my life. Broccoli was like it was been warmed up for 30 seconds. Parsnips were rock hard and couldn’t even cut it with a knife. This restaurant has great ambiance and is spacious and well set out. We had Sunday Roasts which were good, although the broccoli was well undercooked. Unfortunately the whole experience was marred by poor service. It started with ‘loosing our reservation this despite having supplied a credit card! I think it is a general practice and courtesy to ask if ‘everything is OK’ during the course of the meal. At no stage throughout our visit did anyone ask if we’d enjoyed the meal or had any issues. Haven't been here for a long time and we won't be returning. Very disappointed. On arrival had a list of items not available from the menu as they had, had a wedding in the day. Most beers not available and not a drop of white wine! The weddings and a party probably brought in a lot of money but to still take usual bookings and be so ill-prepared is poor. We were there 6pm on a Saturday evening so heaven knows when they will restock. Food was average, had to remind them we'd ordered more drinks. Overall totally unimpressed with somewhere that used to be very good.

I had a fantastic meal with my family at this restaurant today. The food was beautifully presented and we all enjoyed the beef, gammon, and chicken roast dinner platter. The dishes were hot and packed with delicious flavors. We will definitely be returning in the future. The staff was also very friendly and courteous.

Birthday occasion all previous experiences have been very poor so had low expectations. Waited an hour and 15minutes between courses. Left with empty drinks we had to notify staff on two occasions. Staff appeared to be more focused on socialising

First and last visit here Had mixed grill , steak still had a pulse when served , black pudding raw . Only saving grace about the place was the friendly waiting on staff. Definitely one place to miss Réservez une table maintenant

Ad-hoc stop after busy day; friendly staff great atmosphere and surroundings. Chatted to bar-staff about cocktails we liked and he made one off the spot, could have stayed there all afternoon!

Lovely meal with good selection on the menu steak was excellent and the seafood. Curry portion was really big and kids meal was ok. Nice drinks and excellent service.
