After having lived in this area for a number of years we decided to try this place with visiting guests from the USA. The place was clean, the staff friendly and the main dishes HUUUGE. Ordered asparagus soup as an appetizer which was good and would order again. The fries were served hot and were tasty. Fried potatoes were fried too much for our taste with many of them being very, very done. Spaetzle and gravy was good. Deutsches Haus schnitzle was HUGE as well as the schnitzel with mushrooms and gravy along with schnitzel and asparagus. All in all the food was just OK in my opinion. All local Germans know that they live in the Kusel area, say this is the place to eat. So when some friends spent their last night in Germany, we decided to take them there. We are very happy. First off, reserve. We had tried twice before we came in, and no joy. The restaurant is very clean. The decor is a little mini-milist, but beautiful. There are also outdoor seats in the small square in front. The staff was friendly. A couple had limited English, but they offer English menus. The food was excellent! We went to a castle nearby and decided to check out a trip advisor recommendation. This restaurant is nice, coxy, has indoor and outdoor seating. They have a kids menu too. I do have to say, the portions are HUGE. My Jaegerschnitzel was the size of my plate, the fries came on another plate. My husband and I could have shared a meal and be full. Our girls wanted fries, they were also a big portion, even for the kids menu.
I recommended this place based on egg yolk and travel advisor; and it was a complete embarrassment: the customer service was embarrassing and arrogant. The arrogant attitude of the staff was terrible. I wish I never saw this place. It looks sweet, but it is absolutely not representative of German cuisine.
