DIl the Bear is a well regimented and efficient pleasant café serving beverages, pastries, quality cakes, tasty breakfasts and imaginative lunches. First find a seat, decide what you want, return to the counter to order and pay. Take-aways may be ordered directly at the counter where high stools are available at the bar opposite for waiting. Dil now only accepts card payment, they accept neither cash nor cheques. The usual selection of coffees is made by the barista staff and food is cooked in a small kitchen at the rear. I had a mixed experience at this restaurant when I visited with my mother and young son. We found a table but were asked to leave the pushchair at the front, which wasn't a problem but took some time to unload everything. They provided a booster seat for my son, which was great. However, when we looked at the menu and decided what we wanted, we were informed that breakfast had ended at 11:30. We were willing to order off the lunch menu instead, but my mother was told they wouldn't take our order until 12. They wouldn't even ring it up or send it to the kitchen to be prepared in advance.
What a lovely little gem in tynemouth. Our first visit and breakfast was delicious. Full English made for a very happy husband and Coconut French Toast with roasted spiced pineapple , toasted pecans, yoghurt and drizzled with maple syrup was a delight. Great coffee too. There are a few tables outside for a beautiful sunny day like today and plenty of tables inside. There looks to be a wonderful cake selection which means undoubtedly we will be returning soon and the staff were friendly and welcoming .
A lovely intimate cafe serving excellent salads and sandwiches. I had a delightful warm bagel with an omelette and bacon filling. Sounds bizarre but it really was fantastic. Lots of excellent cakes to choose from too again, some unknown surprises but also great. And the coffee too was good (though there's stiff competition in these parts). Perhaps a little pricey but well worth your time for something slightly different in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere (outdoor seating also available).

This restaurant has been our go-to spot for years, with consistently great service and no complaints. However, today we noticed that the women's restroom is starting to look dirty. The toilet seat needs to be replaced, there is thick dust covering the light and mirrors, and all areas need a thorough scrub down, including the floor. A fresh coat of paint would also help bring this place back to being the best coffee and food spot in Tynemouth.
Been here a few times and always enjoyed it. Today however, ordered whipped feta with roasted beetroot and was literally presented with a bowl of liquid/like milk with some packet beetroot chopped on the top. This was not whipped feta nor roasted beetroot and in my mind should not have been served. For £11 it was pretty unacceptable. Will think twice before eating here again :
1st visit to this branch of Dil and the Bear today. I've visited your Tynemouth venue several times, and love it. Today was no different. From the service, coffee, to my gorgeous Turkish eggs for breakfast, it was all lovely. Nice n busy, the staff member had it all under control. Can't wait to return.
Popped to Tyne mouth for a day at the coast and spotted this it’ll gem as we walked past. We had breakfast here mg son my partner and me, the food was fantastic The service wonderful and welcoming Really enjoyed every aspect and will definitely return

Fabulous cafe. Gorgeous food in cosy surroundings. Definitely recommend. Interesting menu and perfect coffee. Had the bagel and a toastie.
