We visit Doddington as the shops always offer things seldom found elsewhere, expensive but exclusive and worth the visit. We just had a late lunch for 2 in the main restaurant. My wife had the Winter Salad, with grilled of roasted carrots, I forget which. Basically a bowl of mixed leaves with some cold sliced carrots barely charred and virtually raw. The promised marmalade dressing was virtually non-existent. My wife ate about 50% and left the rest. I had bubble squeak with gammon. The bubble squeak was a burnt block of mashed veg and potato, barely warm and truly rock solid. The gammon turned out to be ice cold sliced ham straight from the fridge. Both meals terrible and a big disappointmen...
Visited this beautiful place in the picturesque snow. Wow were blown away by our experience. It was so busy but Amy the manager was so efficient and friendly and even chatted with our children about Christmas while we waited for a table. We were given a menu while we waited and the staff worked so hard to clear tables and get people seated quickly. It was so organised that we didn't have to wait long. The food was fantastic. Freshly prepared and arrived quickly I had the turkey special and my husband had the bubble and squeak and it was great. Good offering for children too. The staff were all friendly and well trained and Amy even took the time to say bye to us and wish us and our children...
Doddington Park Cafe has a spacious interior that accommodates a good-sized seating area. However the massive sausage rolls were the best part, The delectable aroma and perfectly flaky pastry make these treats a must-try for any visitor. Often visit the Cafe for breakfast travelling from Nottingham for the amazing Sausage Bap (we call them cobs in Nottingham The service is friendly and welcoming with plenty of tables inside and in summer on the outside as well. There are several car parks on site with ample disability parking available. My wife will often go to the farm shop to buy a bunch of cooking sauces from a good selection. Next door to the Cafe Farm Shop is the wonderful Doddington Hall Gardens, a must vist and especially the gardens in late spring early summer. I would highly recommend a vist to all three. Very busy on the day we visited, and the staff were totally on the ball at getting everyone seated when a table became free. All the servers were so cheerful and kind, super fast service, and oh the food! My partner and I both had the Doddington herd Lincoln red burgers, absolutely delicious, couldn't recommend this cafe and restaurant enough, we'll definitely be back!
Visited with friends on the first day of Xmas festivities. A queue to get a table but the staff were keeping everyone informed of timings and when tables may become available. Had coffee’s and cake. The cake’s were delicious and service excellent. On return we will definitely program a full lunch and a walk around the retail outlets to then walk off the calories.
