I made sure to eat here on three separate occasions before leaving this review to ensure my experience wasn’t an outlier or luck of the draw. I love El Chino. Each of my visits have been excellent. I have ordered a variety of items, including different types of enchiladas and tacos. The food has been consistently delicious and fresh. I cleaned my entire plate every time. Keep in mind that I visited El Chino for lunch, so I cannot speak to the service later in the evening, but I was happy to be seated and served very quickly on all three visits. who doesn't love delicious Mexican food. I'm a very picky eater, but if I find a favorite, they're my place. el chino is a long Mexican restaurant here in santa cruz, and I guess you could call it a hole in the wall. the shredded bark should die. my ultimate favorite is the ranchero burrito with crushed bark. if I'm bored, I'll change it to crushed corn bags. but all they have is delicious! I've never been dissatisfied. salsa is excellent. I always get a 16oz to be home for the week. next time, look at her that you're a delicious Mexican.
I'm not sure how this place works. The last four times I was there, I counted no less than three employees, and each time, only a single to-go order was picked up. So over an hour, the total bill for me was less than $20 and a small call in order for maybe $30. How are they even making enough to pay minimum wage? Unless the place is just a front for a laundering scheme, the math just doesn't add up.
El Chino is our go to, most flavorful mexican restaurant! Omgosh, Friendly, all welcoming, personable service. We moved to Boulder Creek, 13 years ago, looking for our style of fare...and you must, must come here. I have a shot of Don Julio with my meal evertime! The best meal ever! For your dollar!

Staff is friendly, service is great. Food was yummy. Drinks aren't the best but totally fine and the bartender aims to please, most importantly the added price for alcohol with a meal was reasonable. Definitely a locals favorite for many years.
Excellent food. The waiters and waitresses are soKind and friendly. They make sure you are comfortable and happy with your meal. I've been coming here since I was a kid. I really love the food here. The 1 1/2 pound borrito is my favorite. ?
The food was decent and the staff very attentive. unfortunately I got the same dish my friend she got medium rare so I I guess I didn't hear her because they gave me the same thing. Lol! All in all it was a good experience
El Chino isn't a restaurant, it's an institution.It's nostalgia on a plate. Wonderful customer service, and excellent food. It's a hidden gem.

The place is nice, a bit noisy for my liking but cool, the food is good and the service in my opinion could be better.
