We ate here recently, the eve menu, which is more expensive and promises a special dessert and variety of mains. The place was dirty ,grubby and dusty,and the waiter was very ambivalent and wore dirty clothes. When we sat down first he spent time laughing and messing with someone he knew at another table. He ignored us until as I have a little Spanish I called him. Only for I could speak Spanish god help us. He turned from the table he was lat and arrived with a cold uninterested face to us. Took our orders 40 mins wait for ham croquettes without the ham!, Limp salad, s Dry bread. .Another long wait for the meal which was meat barbecued, black and greasy, flakes all over with black burnt fue...
El Cortijo doesn’t look anything special from the outside, but once you venture in to their courtyard you will feel pleased you did so! Try and get one of the three tables at the rear of the courtyard, very secluded with some lovely features. We come here for lunch regularly for some years now and it was always very good. Good food nice environment. Today it was a disappointing experience. The food was very good but the service bad. To start with the waitress brought the second dish to the table before we finished our first dish. Result, the meat on my wife's plate was cold by the time she got to it. Then after we finished the second plate. We waited ... and waited ... and waited.... No waitress came to our table to clean the plates (those of the first dish were still on the table) or to take our order for the desert. They served other tables but never looked in our direction. We passed by this restaurant a few days ago and decided to return for the menu del dia. We were not disappointed! 10€ per person, and an amazing lazy lunch. Lovely warm restaurant with choice of bar style seating of you wanted tapas or a small snack, or proper restaurant seating as well with lovely log burner. There is an outside patio which would be great on warm days. The menu comes with a drink, or of both want wine then you get a bottle of wine. Bread with allioli and tomato, followed by a salad, then choice of starter, main and dessert. We both picked seafood soup as the starter, then hubby had fish whilst I picked ribs for the main. We have been here before and it was good. They have changed the menu, putting the price up, but only to €16. However the starters have gone and are replaced by Tapas Various, which were mainly slop in mayonnaise. The main courses are very limited. My wife had sole, which was burnt and came with cold chips and over cooked veg. Ten minutes later the barbecue lamb for my son and I arrived, or to be more accurate, barbecue bones. The service, which is usually slow, was glacial. The waiter was getting ready for a wedding and found serving customers a distraction. No idea about the desserts, we were so fed up, we just got the bill and left. At least it was memorable, but for all the wrong reasons....
Service was extremely slow, we waited an hour for our meals to arrive. My drink was forgotten about and I never received it, as well as the fact that my main meal came out with the other party member’s starters! I ordered a tuna salad and it arrived with no tuna! The waiter took it away and brought me back the same salad with a lump of tuna on the top of it. Many of the party member’s food was cold and I asked for sauce multiple times and never received it. After spending a very long 3 and a half hours here waiting for food, I Will not be returning, can honestly say I have left this restaurant very disappointed.
Our first visit to this traditional Spanish restaurant, with friends, one of whom had visited previously. We chose to sit in the shade outside in their pretty courtyard and enjoyed warm, fresh bread, alioli and tomato, and salad followed by seafood paella and pan fried salmon, veg and patatas fritas, then fresh pineapple or Vienetta or almond cake. All for just €10 apiece plus drinks and coffees. Good, friendly service too. Our first visit but not our last!
I have been to this restaurant several times but today was a great disappointment. The service was appalling and the food wasn't brilliant. Not only did they forget to bring the menu, when we ordered drinks they forgot them. Not once but twice. When we ordered the main course only 3 out of 4 pilares of food showed up. We had finished by the time the 4th plate arrived. Most disappointing. Will think twice about going back Réservez une table maintenant
Lovely atmosphere with polite and efficient friendly staff. We had the grilled (barbecued) meats for 2; with fries, salad, bread with alio tomato, drink, sweet. €30 (serves 2).To be honest it would probably feed 3/4. Lots of other items on menu to choose. Also great tapas dishes if looking for a quick snack. Hoping to visit again soon Hope to visit again.
