Had a wonderful dinner. The place is nice and dark and atmospheric with palm branches hanging from the chandeliers and covering the whole ceiling. Makes you feel like in a forest. The oysters were big, fresh and delicious. We also had a tartar steak which was succulent and not overly spicy. If you would decide to visit only for the desserts, you wouldn’t be making a mistake because the tarte tatin and the arabic cake were just out of this world good. We also enjoyed a couple of cocktails later in the bar and found them to be exceptional. A big thanks goes to the excellent service we encountered. Our glasses were never empty and they didn’t forget to add a candle to my wife’s cake for her bir...
While the ambiance and food was delicious, for such a high caliber restaurant we were disappointed with the service. The wait staff was inattentive for the first half of our experience. We waited a long time for menus, ordering and drinks. Then my drink was taken from me when it was half full. You ask the customer first. After the reprimand things went smoothly. I can recommend oysters, scallops, and the filet mignon with mashed potatoes. The tuna tartare was disappointing because it was more like tuna poke- chunky, if that’s how you like it.
Lovely place with great music and atmosphere. Exceptionally clean and well decorated, the ambiance is just stellar. Great food and even better cocktails. Seriously, their cocktails are the best. And you get to see them making them, it's truly a great experience. They pay lots of attention to allergies and intolerances, as they ask for you to let them know if you have any when booking. Every time I am in Alicante El Portal is one of my stops.
EL PORTAL has a fabulous Art Deco vibe .with beautiful lighting and decor. The menu was VERY hard to understand and because of language barrier .But an amazing selection of mainly fish. I personally would NOT consider it a tapas restaurant. The prices were VERY HIGH !!! and I would say definately over priced. The steak is cooked to perfection and the jamón is some of the best I've ever had. They also have an impressive selection of wines and their cocktail menu is inventive and delicious. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service is top-notch. Highly recommend for a special occasion or a night out with friends. Don't miss out on this hidden gem!
Beautiful intimate setting, with great cocktails (especially the Hugo Spritz and the Royal Hibiscus). However, the food is definitely not up to its price. We paid 36€ for 4 tiny shrimps. The rest was good (artichoke croquetas) but the overall price is way to expensive especially for Alicante. I’d recommend to go but only for cocktails.
Feels like the epicentre of the classy side of Alicante. Gourmet seafood dishes. Service values of the highest order. Lots of chatter but very friendly and all orchestrated by the coolest DJ spinning some Afro House/Organic House. Perfect. Still haven't checked my bill, but I know it was worth it.
