I've always been a huge fan of the Flowood location. My grandparents and I frequently visit the Crossgates restaurant, but I've noticed a significant decline in quality over the past couple of years, which really disappoints me. I hate to say anything negative about El Sombrero, but I wonder if the franchise has changed owners? I’m not sure. However, the salsa has transformed into an overly peppery, marinara-like liquid that’s just not the same.

I visited El Sombrero with a large group and was satisfied with the service. The restaurant had a spacious and open layout, which enhanced the overall experience. Our meals arrived hot and everything went smoothly. The food presentation was impressive, though I found the flavors to be quite mild. I think this reflects the local taste preferences rather than a flaw of the restaurant, as many Mexican places in the area serve beautifully presented but subtly flavored dishes.
The food is consistently served promptly and just as ordered. The staff is welcoming, and the prices are fair. You absolutely must try the Philly steak sandwich and the carnitas tacos—they're fantastic!

Terrible experience. The atmosphere was nice with an outdoor-inspired vibe, but that was about it. I ordered cheese and guacamole with the chips and salsa, and it just wasn’t good.
