We visited this bar for a change of scenery after reading the reviews on here and not discovering until visiting there that the last review was written two years ago. On arrival the bar looked old and tired from the outside and on entering the bar we quickly realised we had made a terrible mistake visiting here. Unfortunately this place has gone to ruin, looking nothing like the photos One old man with the filthiest of finger nails and a body smell like the donkeys in the field nearby. A family member wanted to give the place the benefit of the doubt but when the plates arrived filthy dirty we quickly left just as a slimy salad was being placed in front of us

Theo's Bar is hidden away in a quiet corner of Salares, one of the fabled white villages in the Axarquia district of Andalusia. Theo himself is a larger than life character who greets his guests with a warm smile and a glass of his home brewed muscatel wine. The food offered is an eclectic mixture of dishes prepared by his wife. We had cous cous salad with plums, grapes and tomatoes, plump mussels, sardines, an excellent tortilla and paella served on Swedish crisp bread. Dessert was, predictably, a large bunch of Theo's muscatel grapes, which he had just picked. This was a great little find for lunch.

Everywhere in the village of Salares you can find the text 'para comer Bar El Theo '. We went three times to this bar to find out if the food was really great. The first and the second time we went there this bar was closed. Today the bar was open but didn 't serve any food. So the sentence 'para comer ' could be better 'if you 're lucky we 're open and if we 're in the right mood we 'll serve food '. But when you 're in the pretty little village of Salares you can always give it a try. Just follow the signs up in the village.

Local bar with very friendly and somewhat flamboyant owner in the heart of this magnificent white village. Cold beers, honest and fresh local food and homemade pizza for the children made this a wonderful afternoon that we will for long remember.
