El Tucan is as close to the real thing as you are going to get being in Ontario. The food is fresh, well prepared and believe me, original! At first glance, the place may not look as inviting as one would hope however, once in, you realize that the atmosphere is very cozy. This is a family run business and the care put just in the service alone makes it a 'must go back' kind of place. After my first visit and having tried their famous Pupusas, I was hooked. Now, I cannot visit Ottawa without having to make a quick stop by El Tucan. I recommend it.

Started off with a the papusa, tamale and pastel. Of the 3 I liked the tamale. I found the flavors of all of them very mild. I was expecting spicy food like Mexican. We had the fish tacos which was OK but the cilantro took over the flavor. We also had the yuca con chichcarron which cassava with fried pork. Again the dish was good but a bit bland. The owner was very helpful in explaining the Salvadorean dishes and overall service was very good. It's worth a try if only to experience Salvadorean cuisine. I would give it C .

Location: on a busy street, with parking on the street depending of the hour Ambiance: The decor make it easy to imagine that you are in a small restaurant in central america. Food: Good home made food. Could not find anything wrong with the quality of food on my plate. Nice presentation, and tasting very good. buritos were served with rice and a tasty sauce. If you want to discover a new place, do not hesitate...this is the place to go. We will certainly go back to tate more of the San Salvadorian cuisine.

I ordered some rice pupusas to go and they were a huge disappointment. I’m not sure if the owners changed since it’s now called villa Latina but the food was terrible. The rice masa was old and stale. The pupusas were a lot smaller then usual and the filing lacked flavour, they were dry which is not typical) and hard to eat. I am Salvadorian and I can tell you that these were the worst pupusas I’ve ever had. I won’t be returning. Réservez une table maintenant

A friend suggested this restaurant and I have to admit I wasn't sure I wanted to go in! This is a family run business and they prepare food as though you were dining at a friend's home. Everthing we ate from appetizers to mains were tasty and well presented. The service was excellent and very friendly.

Food is excellent. Salvadorean options like pupusas and tamales are fabulous but lots of Mexican- American options for the less adventurous eater. Quaint, eclectic decor. If you like wine with dinner, no options and they've run out of wine before!

The food was quite good - we tried eating here because we heard of papusas on a TV show and found this restaurant. The bean soup was a great starter on a cold night, and our papusas were tasty (I preferred the cheese

Haven't been here in years so nice to see it's still there. My wife has a smaller appetite so had the 3 short eats shown in a picture on the menu, tamal, pupusa Réservez une table maintenant
