The person who answered the phone was quite abrupt, and unfortunately, they hung up on me before I could even ask how long the wait would be. I tend to be forgiving and would have overlooked this if they had seemed busy, but when I arrived, the place was completely empty.
After spending over $35, I was disappointed to find the food was terrible. The egg rolls, despite having bean sprouts, tasted like cabbage and lacked freshness. The fried rice was old, as if it had been sitting out for a day or two. I even tried reheating it, but that didn’t help. Although the almond chicken was plentiful, it was tough and thick, the gravy was watered down, and the broccoli was mushy.

My first visit to Empress Gardens will definitely be my last! I ordered four Egg Foo Young patties without gravy for takeout, and the woman who took my order was quite rude. After receiving my order, I walked to my car and decided to check my food. I was horrified to discover that the container was filled with grease, with the patties sitting in it! I took the order back inside and showed the woman, but her response was, "That's how it always comes!" I kindly requested a refund, and she tossed the money on the counter. It was such a terrible experience...
I went in for some what I though would be good Chinese food, first their prices are super high, $10 for a small order of broccoli, then the older lady who was the order taker started arguing with me about fried rice and brown rice, totally rude and rushing me while ordering, the gravy from the Almond chicken was nasty and watery. I don’t remember this place being this nasty, I haven’t ate here in years but I definitely don’t be back!
Just wanted a meal to eat with my kid.there was boo boo in every shrimp they served me with hair on it.i have pics and videos this what not only a health hazard to me and my 3year old who wanted to share with me but the growing baby inside of me as well. I would never recommend this place it needs to be shut down for health safety reasons.

I've been visiting this restaurant for years, but unfortunately, it has declined since the Covid pandemic. It just isn't the same anymore. I am really disappointed with the quality now.
So delicious, prepared very well, and great value for the portion sizes. Restaurant was clean and the staff were fantastic. Wish we discovered this gem sooner!!!
This is my favorite Chinese food restaurant. I also met an artist there who put me onto a really nice album called Southfield Legend

Been going there for years. Food was always good except for last night. Rice was under cooked and chicken was tough.
The portions are very good.. Love the pepper steak and the prices are fair!
