Famena Famous Roti & Curry

Based on recommendations from friends and the great reviews I went here with great anticipation. Once inside I was taken aback by how dirty and sloppy the place looked but based on all the positive feedback decided to order. I should have trusted my gut because my gut proceeded to remind me for 3 days that I should listen to it. I ordered a lamb roti and doubles. They were tasty but that was the only positive thing I can say. The food sat like a cinder block in my stomach and the next day began the worst long weekend I've had. Unfortunately I could not wander 20 feet from the porcelain throne as the stomach cramps and the "green apple quick step"/"montezumas revenge" had taken full control of my body. As this was the only thing I ate that day I had become a victim of food poisoning. Until the Winnipeg Board of Health gets this establishment to empty the location and clean it from top to bottom I will not return. No roti no matter how tasty is worth giving up a 3 day long weekend!

Tucked away next to a parkade just one block off Portage, Famena's is a small diner specializing in West Indian food. ! used to go to Bindy's but found that they started skimping on the meat - not so here! The roti are HUGE, packed with meat and the prices are very reasonable. It only seats about 12 people around the counter, but they do take out as well. Everything is made to order and packed with flavor.I can't wait until I go back to Winnipeg - I will definitely be going back!

Had the goat and chickpea rotti Huge Good flavour but probably too big If i could do it again I'd bring a friend to split it with.
