Went for my last meal before leaving Texas and wanted to support a black-owned business in the process. I ordered the Hot Link basket since it was on special for their anniversary. The basket came with french fries and a piece of Texas toast. The frieswere nice and crisp and the hot links with the barbecue sauce was great. Also split a half pound of brisket. For sides, we hadbaked beans and macaroni and cheese. Both delicious. For dessert I got the butter bomb cake which was their most populardessert, according to staff. it was basically just a very buttery piece of cake. Absolutely Amazing is All I Can Say. First off let me say I'm not really big on BBQ, since I've moved to Texas I've yet to find a BBQ place that made me want to go back again, again until today. Today I wanted to give Texas one more shot at BBQ so Ichecked out Smokey John's. As you can see from the pic I purchased the Ribs and Sausage Plate. I chose baked beans, and potatoesalad as my 2 sides. I also purchased a side of Mac and cheese, and Cabbage. EVERYTHING was absolutely amazing. $16 for a sandwich plate plus $3 for a cup of iced tea made from powder. The brisket sandwich was slightly dry, only one sauce available which seemed to be a vinegar-based very watery sauce, no sweetness and no spiciness, overall a sauce that I would notserve to my guests. The potato salad was essentially the same quality as the stuff they sell in a plastic container at Kroger.The mashed potatoes were excellent, however, no gravy was available. I won?t be coming back. There are many great BBQ joints inDallas and Smoky Johns is not one of them. I?m not sure

I paid $16 for a sandwich plate and an additional $3 for a cup of powdered iced tea. The brisket sandwich was a bit dry, served with only a very watery, vinegar-based sauce that lacked sweetness and spice—definitely not something I'd want to serve to my guests. The potato salad was comparable to what you can buy in a plastic container at Kroger. While the potatoes themselves were good, there was nothing special about the dish. Overall, I won’t be returning. There are plenty of great BBQ spots in Dallas, and unfortunately, Smoky John's isn't one of them.
Smokey John's BBQ has okay food but the service is where things went up in smoke. The catfish and Mac and cheese were good with plenty of flavor. My partners turkey was bland and left us sharing my catfish. As for the service only the gentleman at the entrance seemed enthused about customers coming in. Overall, I think we'll allow some time before giving them another shot. Food 3/5 Service 2/5 Atmosphere 4/5 Cleanliness 4/5 Parking 5/5
As you can see from the picture, I ordered the Ribs and Sausage Plates, accompanied by beans and potato salad as my sides. I also added a side of mac and cheese and coleslaw. Everything was absolutely delicious!

Delicious BBQ spot in Dallas! It?s located in a small complex with free parking. I ordered the smoked beef brisket platter with green beans and macaroni cheese. Food was delicious and service was fast! Workers were also very friendly! My meal was about $20 which is a good price for smoked meat!

The food was great here. I had to stop in today after hearing about it on the USA Today special and competition. I got the ribs and the brisket and thought it was very good. The cabbage and mac and cheese were also super great, topped off with a nice cold sweet tea.
Eyell still give this family business 5 stars because of the customer service and presentation was great. Good looking employees and clean establishment. One thing was the macaroni was over kooked but still eye enjoyed my meal
