Among the many fish restaurants in the harbor area, this is one that I would recommend. It is a German rather than Portuguese one in looks, but in substance it is Lusitanian as well (and why not; means nicer staff - Cuxhaven is one of the main Portuguese fishing and fish processing ports, incl. for bacalhao). Here, prices are fair, fish is good, the open kitchen does allow for quality and hygiene control, and our food was between good and great. € 20 for 3 types of fried fish (all great), boiled potatoes (very good) with hollandaise (from the tetrapak but good quality) and fried potatoes (good), with € 3.50 for a small carafe of vinho verde (aha!) and I forgot how much for a soft drink is ve...
We ate at the outside bench tables in the sun and ordered 2 Herforder biers and the Fischplatte for 2. There were also tables inside, but we did not go in and can't comment on the inside.The fischplatte was a good serving size - with 3 different types of fish which had been cooked perfectly and were moist and fresh. There were bratkartoffeln and a salad garnish to go with it.A very enjoyable meal. It is impossible to go to Cuxhaven without trying her seafood, and fishery is a good choice to do that. We ordered a fish plate for 2 people and we have 6 pieces of 3 different fish. You were really delicious. We paid 30 euros for our lunch and drinks for 2 people. For this quality it is affordable. The location is nearby parking and it is free. There are outdoor areas and have many tables outside. Compared to Hamburg, this is very relaxing. Sometimes busy when there are too many cars.
We have been in Cuxhaven for several years. We know many fish restaurants, but this is by far the best in the port area. Fast operation even if a lot is going on. Good choices and especially recommended are roast potatoes. The fish is freshly bought daily by the fishermen and has excellent quality. This restaurant is only recommended for every holidaymaker. 5 out of 5 stars for this good restaurant.
Simple but cosy furnishings. Very good value for money. The crab soup had personally become too viscous, which made the amount of crabs good again. The main courses were all very tasty and the fish cooked to the point. Look forward to the next visit.
Nice little fish place we're sitting outside. Had different drinks and baked fish with pommes. Price performance fits. Food was very delicious. The staff probably didn't have the best day today we didn't feel welcome.
