As a dive bar connoisseur my never ending quest to achieve dive nirvana continues. Today depositing me smack dab in the middle of Perth Amboy. Brewbaker on my mind and taste buds good ole Yelp quenched my dive thirst. To make my acceptable dive list affordability or in other words cheap must be the moniker. $3 cold domestic drafts, Cha ching! A half oval long 15 seat bar awaits your rump. 7 drafts choices on tap, yes it's always all about the draft which must be frost bite or go home to mommy. Cha Ching! If you’re fortunate enough to visit when Liz is behind the bar, you’re in for a treat. She’s one of the best bartenders I’ve encountered; I swear she can sense when your glass is empty even if she’s busy. The Flat embodies what a local bar should be. Depending on the time of your visit, it can either be bustling with energy or quiet, as many people drop by after their shifts.
It’s a great place to unwind. Come for the burger, order a couple of green tea shots, play some tunes on the jukebox, and mingle with the folks sitting on both sides of the bar. I can promise you’ll have a fun night out.
I have been coming here for years and love this place. The food, friendly bar tenders, reasonable prices. Unfortunately they have new owners, my regular bill doubled. I can understand raising the prices a bit but now I might as well go to the larger chains like Miller's for what you pay. Worst of all we had a gift card for 20 dollars and the new owner did not honor it. So for 20 dollars you just lost long time customers that would have returned for the food and great bar tenders even if the prices-did go up.
A great find! This was a bright, friendly bar, and when I say friendly I am talking really friendly bartenders who were on us in a second and a seemingly nice group of customers. There is a pool table in the back and some additional seating. We ordered food and some beers. I got a towering BLT and the husband got chicken fingers. Both were around $7 and terrific, both in taste and quantity of food. This is another place for the rotation, see ya soon Flat Iron!

The burger was flavorless, and I was charged $2.50 for a small cup of soda. While the service was good, the new owners aren't maintaining the quality like the previous ones did. The men's restroom had graffiti on the walls and wasn’t very clean. Unfortunately, this landmark in Perth Amboy has definitely seen better days. I won’t be coming back.
If you're a man of a certain age who's taken on the responsibilities of God, country, and family, and you don't mind sitting in a bar as well-worn as your favorite pair of boots, you'll find the atmosphere welcoming and the beer refreshing.
Their bartenders are totally incompetent and RUDE!!! Messed up drink orders and overcharged our bill. I witnessed a bartender drinking behind the bar! I will not be returning.
Not what it used to be. New management has ruined what used to be good experience. Food and drink prices have gone up and the place has lost its luster. Will NOT be returning.

The best place in Perth Amboy. Open to everyone friendly staff and good food. Very good beer selection and great drinks. Worth looking for a parking spot if it's busy.
Stopped by here today to get a drink. They had fresh caught mahi mahi tacos. They were slammin. Friendly staff. Good drinks!
