Forman's Fish Island

I would give this restaurant five stars for the food, but the service could use some improvement. The fish dishes were some of the best I've had in London, with great aromas and perfectly cooked and presented. I highly recommend trying the smoked salmon plate. The ambiance and decor were beautiful and impressive. However, there were some issues with the service, such as slow drink refills and a waitress who didn't fully clean our table, leaving a plate behind. Despite these hiccups, I would still return for the delicious food. One odd thing to note was the filled jars of popcorn on the bar that seemed like they would go stale and be wasted if no one sat at the bar.

Nice food and good value, my main criticism is that the restaurant was huge and entirely empty apart from two tables, and they put us right in the middle of the other two tables, elbow to elbow. It meant that there was no privacy and felt really uncomfortable in such a large space, and really ruined the meal. No one else arrived in the time that we were there, so it was very strange surrounded by some many empty tables and basically sat with a bunch of strangers in an empty restaurant. We only visited for brunch, I would recommend asking to sit somewhere else if this happens to you.

Can’t fault the smoked salmon, and I really like their choice and knowledge of British wines. For me though, the restaurant is a bit stuffy and formal. The food (when I came 1.5 years ago) is good, but not great. Given the prices, I expected pretty flawless cooking and ingredients. I guess overall it is not really my vibe in terms of decor and ambience. My parents loved it though, when I brought them for a quiet daytime drink on the terrace. On that occasion we enjoyed attentive, friendly service and some complimentary petits fours lovely!

For those who know me well, they will know that two of my favorite things in life are living and eating. So today, I am excited to share about a special dining experience that brought a smile to my face - smoked salmon from Britain's oldest fish smokery. H. Forman & Son, located on Fish Island in Hackney Wick, is the last smokehouse in the East End, founded by Harry Forman in Stepney in 1905 and now run by his great-grandson, Lance Forman. This restaurant offers the finest selection of freshly smoked salmon in the entire country. Each bite will leave you craving more of this delicious Umami dish. In addition to the salmon, the menu offers a variety of other options including fish, meat, desserts, and fine wines. Personally, I recommend starting with a salmon starter to awaken your taste buds, followed by a meat dish, and finishing with a dessert. I would give this restaurant a perfect 10/10 rating and highly recommend it.

very nice restaurant, very friendly staff and eating was excellent, we even had a quick visit in the smoked salmon factory. definitiw will go back. I highly recommend this place.

I live in stratford, so I'm so happy when I find good eating in the opposite that is not in the westfield, and I don't have to go centrally. the first time.

this was opened during the hackney Wick(Ed) festivals as a temporary art space. it is large and corporate. it's strange how cheap floor tiles can ruin. Réservez une table maintenant

the coffee was terrible, but it was brilliant. I had hot smoked laughs with ires hollandaise (the forman' on the map) and it was perfect.

Nice canal side setting. Famous for the salmon but plenty of other options. Great menu of English wines
