On off, over a period of more than 30 years I have enjoyed the hospitality of this fine pub restaurant. Whilst the menu, food, presentation environment ambiance were all excellent this review is more about the first class service. The manager clearly knows her stuff as the young people she has employed trained; our waitress, the young man, on only his second shift, and others that served us were so polite professional I’m going to say this was amongst the best service, in all categories, I have ever experienced. Well done!
We had a delicious meal with great service in a beautiful location. We started with the olive and hummus nibbles, followed by the delightful fertile and mint soup. For our main courses, we enjoyed the baby gammon, burger, and fish and chips. We also paired our dishes with various wines and coffees. For dessert, we sampled the delightful crème brûlée, white chocolate cake, and sticky toffee pudding. Everything was delicious and the portions were generous. I highly recommend this restaurant!
a beautiful pub on the a49 in cotebrook. a warm welcome and the best of care throughout the evening, nothing was too much annoyed for the staff. we were a group of 9 and every cure was served very efficiently, so we could all start together and there was exactly the right time between the curses for us to really enjoy our meal. a very good selection of foods available for every cure and children's menu. everyone was thrilled with his decisions. a great place for a special celebration.
I visited the Fox and Barrel last night, and I was very impressed. The staff were exceptional—welcoming and attentive—and the food was delightful. The atmosphere had the lively yet organized feel of a well-run establishment, and I would happily recommend it to others. We enjoyed the fish and chips, but I've heard from reliable sources that the sausage and mash is incredible, so I will definitely be returning soon to give it a try!

We had a fantastic experience after the lockdown; the atmosphere felt very safe and welcoming, and the food was outstanding—I was in black pudding heaven! It was heartwarming to see other customers smiling once seated, free from masks. This restaurant truly felt like a sanctuary in these chaotic times. Thank you for making our wedding anniversary such a delightful occasion!
absolutely tasty, perfect selection of food, wonderful choice where they sit and enjoy our meal, no delay served while eating, and in a pleasant wise. nice little sharpener, makes us alive and normal again. Last year had a fantastic sunday lunch here however since then it has had new ownership and I look forward to a return trip and will post my compliments
