Being older we find that a regular entrée is often too much for us. We visited Foxtail after a round of golf at a nearby course looking for a light lunch before hitting the road. Everything on the menu looked delicious but we feared we would have too much food. In the end my wife ordered a wild mushroom soup, which was superb; earthy and rich, and a personal sized Foxtail signature pizza. The pizza was advertised as a 6" but was more like 8". The crust was made on site, as was the chorizo topping, and was superb, cooked in a wood fired oven to exactly the right tender chewiness. Normally neither of us is a fan of chorizo, but we both loved the Foxtail's version. I ordered a small caprese sal...
I had read the reviews about this place and planned my stay in the area with having a stop to here in mind. After a very long drive I arrived. Weather was good enough you good sit on the patio but I sat inside so I could watch them make the pizza right in front of you. There is a happy hour of sorts with some food and beverages on special. I have nothing to complain about except service and food was rushed. I order an app and cocktail ,but my main came up while I was still eating. I am sure it is something that can be worked on. I had the drunken mushroom pizza . Would stop there again.
For people who have not visited here before then, I believe that they would be impressed but. I have enjoyed their menu for years, previous years. Their expansion has cost them. Their menu, prices, food quality, overall atmosphere has been lost. They should return to practices that were established. Oh, that almighty dollar has/will be your downfall. Sorry.
We came in not too soon before early closing. Staff were still pleasant, accommodating and did not rush us at all. We shared salad, pizza and a 9 oz glass of wine. All enjoyed in an atmosphere that while a bit noisy for us was not rushed. Liked the idea of the screened in patio but had plastic over the screen for now til it warms up. We love the fresh tasting menu, the salads are large and delicious also! Our last visit we had the pulled pork and coleslaw pizza and it was amazing! My only suggestion is the outdoor seating could be better. A picnic table isn't very comfortable but for a short visit it's okay.
