We parked on the sand Placken and then walked (9km) to the Grosser Feldberg and then had an excellent lunch at the Fuchstanz Waldgasthaus and then a nice walk back (9km) to the sand Placken everything in everything, very pleasant! Make this a focal point of your hikes in the forests of Taunus! After a long and beautiful walk through the forest this is your halfway resting station! An authentic rustic German restaurant in old style with an impressive menu and many homemade desserts. Anything for everyone! The service is very friendly and prompt. In high season you need to have some patience, as there will be many customers. This is one of the highlights of my German holiday!

The place was packed on a Sunday afternoon when hiking is about to wind down. We ordered salmon and vegetarian Flammkuchen (thin pizza) which blew me away. Totally unexpected. Looking around I realized that a lot of people had ordered Flammkuchen as well. So I guess these pizzas are a staple of this establishment. They kept with the German tradition of keeping the bathrooms clean and the service fast which is even more appreciated in a pit stop on a busy trail,

I saw around me that many people had also ordered flaky cakes. This gem of a place is at the intersection of several hiking and cycling trails in the woods on the way up to the mountain Gross Feldberg just outside of Königstein im Taunus Germany. Fuchstanz translates to "fox dance" and while we did not see any foxes much less any dancing we did have an immensely good time. There are actually two small restaurants with indoor and outdoor seating. There is also a beverage vendor outside. You can't drive here so do some research and find a trail to hike to this wonderful out-of-the-way stop. It will be well worth the effort!

One of our favorite weekend stops is the Waldgasthaus in Fuchstanz. This inconceivable little orange restaurant in the forest has numerous menus to choose from. They are open all year round, rain, snow or sunshine. Everything's homemade. Our favorite is the Pesto Prosciutto Flamecake. On a sunny weekend you can wait a bit to find a table outside. Order and pay inside, then bring the food to your table. We also love to take our guests here.
After a long uphill climb in the Taunus, we arrived at the Fuchstanz for tea and cake. It was all worth it. The meals being served looked wonderful too but too much food might have impeded the long walk back. We were visiting in the autumn and the trees surrounding it were the most beautiful shades of orange, yellow, gold, amber and brown. A slice of heaven.

they can only get to this place to foot or with the bike, but it is worth eating for the pub style and drinks. it is very busy with the jack wolfskin, who wears local walker on Sunday, although so early to get there or up. be prepared for a long waiting period.
