Love this place. Very well priced. The staff are lovely. Possibly the most popular cafe servicing many of the local Newtown shop owners each day. Great selection of typical brekky/lunch options. It's not fancy fare but rather things like bacon and egg roll, hamburger, salad sandwiches, croissants. I think at a time where so much of Newtown is trendy/unrecognisable/ hard to pronounce deconstructed dishes made up of bacon mousse, tumeric essence bites, truffle breads etc food people just keep coming back here for reliably good food (the way it used to be : Customers are always down to earth the place has a chilled feel with newspapers available. Definitely recommend!!!
I've dropped by the Funky Monkey a couple of times. Being at the Southern end of Newtown it's easier to find parking, especially during morning peak hour just when the morning munchies hit. The coffee is always good, service with a smile but the big discovery is their omelettes. I think I've found the most PERFECTLY cooked omelette in the world! Really! They are that good. If you don't believe me, try one yourself.
Assume friendly service. The coffee was good and we both had a egg and bacon roll. The roll was extremely fresh and the serve was very generous. The restroom was spotless and the whole ambience of the restaurant was great. Definitely worth a visit.
My favorite place to go in Newtown for their big breakfast. The staff are super friendly... even remembering us after not going there for a few months. Prices are good and the food is delicious. Good for small groups or just on your own.

Funky Monkey Espresso. The food is simple but delicious and very inexpensive. The breakfasts are fantastic and so are the burgers.Mega Monkey Burger is the best burger in Newtown!I get my coffee here every day and it's always perfect!
The food here is always good. The ladies here are fantastic characters, they always remember us though our visits are months apart and it seems they know most of the other customers. Get the banana smoothie, it's delicious.
This one visor I had definitely cannot do it justice as it's not store made but when I was visiting a friend here, the waitstaff here are really nice!Will certainly drop by for a feed next time :
I can't comment on the food as I haven't eaten here but they make a good coffee. They seem to have regular clients and the staff are very friendly. Prices look reasonable.

Chicken wraps and banana bread here are the best! Super duper friendly staff and really great food, best place to eat in Sydney! Could not recommend more
Casual and family friendly atmosphere. Modest and simple food. Great coffee. Not packed out or pretentious which is a bonus for King St.
