Ganbei Japanese Restaurant Bar

This is a fantastic Lexington local Japanese restaurant. It is not hibachi, but they have all of your typical Japanese fair as well as incredible sushi. You can’t go wrong with the Ganbei rice, or any of their sushi rolls. On the weekends at dinner time it’s typical they would have a wait, but during lunch or outside of dinner rush, you’re normally seated very promptly by a friendly hostess, and the services are always well-informed and attentive. Good place to bring a date as it does have somewhat of a romantic field. If you like sushi, definitely give Ganbei a try. We visited this restaurant to try their sushi for the first time, and we were impressed right away. The dining area was clean and immaculate, beautifully decorated, and created a lovely atmosphere—perfect for a date night! Our server, Matthew, was attentive to our needs and very friendly. We ordered some drinks that he crafted himself, and they were fantastic. The food here is truly delicious and definitely worth the price. It was our 1st dining experience and we weren’t disappointed. For a Saturday the wait wasn’t long (maybe 10 minutes). We were greeted promptly and everyone was friendly. The food was fresh and hot and we’ll definitely be back! Kid-friendliness: It was kid friendly which was a plus. Atmosphere was relaxed and you don’t feel rushed. We love coming here! The atmosphere is wonderful, the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious! We love ordering the boat for 2. Perfect size and the sushi is amazing! Ambience was great not what i expected being in a walmart parking lot. Food was great and Matt our server was awesome very personable and knowledgeable about the menu! 5 stars all day! I returned to this restaurant and once again left feeling satisfied! The service during this visit was excellent; I was greeted at the door with a warm smile. As always, the sushi was perfectly prepared with fresh ingredients.

The Ganbei rice here is excellent—perfectly spicy. The service can be inconsistent at times, but overall, it’s quite good. The dim lighting creates a romantic atmosphere.
